I am seeking opinions on the three day cruise? Did it seem like you were ever on the boat? I am trying to decided between a land sea package or just spending a week at Disney. I would appreciate input. Yes, I am a first time cruiser!

A 3 day is a great way to get started for a first time cruiser, but I will warn you that just when you start getting to know your way around it will be time to get off!

In hindsight I would have done a 4 day as our first cruise instead of the 3 day. We prefer the longer cruises, but the land/sea options are a great way to start.

We started with a land/sea in October of 2001 just to see if we liked cruising. We are now booked with our 6th cruise-Magic 7 night in September. The 3 night is an excellent way to get an idea of whether you would like cruising. You get a taste of the restaurants, the shows, the ship and activities. We took our 3rd 3 night last October. To maixmize time onboard: we got to the port fairly early; didn't even get off the ship in Nassau. Take my advice--if you do go, go ahead and book your follow-up cruise on board--youll save money because you will be back to cruising.

:sunny: We did the land/sea 3 day in August of 2002, this year we are doing the 4 day at sea and 3 on land. I loved the 3 day at sea so now we are tring the 4 day. Nex year I would like to try the 7 day. I am taking small steps.:boat:

Out of 35 Disney cruises (it will be 36 next week), 30 have been 3 day cruises. I would prefer a week, but we do the short cruises to maximize our vacation days. If a 3 day cruise is the one that fits into your plans best, then go for it. But longer is better if you can swing it because you will have time to relax, get to know your servers, and enjoy your vacation without knowing that it's almost time to go back to reality.

You said you were a first time cruiser but are you a first time Disney World visitor? Also, what are the ages of your kids. I am glad we "discovered" Disney World first, came to love everything Disney, and then went on our cruises. It made the character greeting so much more real, etc. So my advice would be: If you or children have never been to Disney World, do that for a week. Once you're hooked, you'll be signing up for a cruise sooner than you think. IMHO.

My husband and I went to Disney on our honeymoon. Our kids are 4 & 7 - last time @ Disney was three years ago - but the trip was a disaster! Maybe we should wait on the cruise and focus on having a good time @ Disney! It's hard to decide...

We can only vacation for one week, and the three day cruise was nice because we were able to spend 4 nights at WDW and then 3 on the cruise.

However, now we like the 4 day cruise plan better because we can drive instead of fly and still get in a couple of days at WDW during our 1 week vacation.

With the 3 day (getting off on Sunday) we have to fly to get home in time for DH to get back to work on Monday.

With the 4 day, we leave after work on Friday night. Then drive all day Saturday. Get to port on Sunday. On Thursday we head over to WDW and stay there Thursday and Friday night. We leave Saturday morning and we get home Sunday evening.

Personally, I think it is less expensive to book the cruise and then seperately book your own trip to WDW. I also like the idea of setting things up the way I want them instead of following their plan.

Anyway, the 3 day gives you the BEST of the cruise. You get to eat in each restaurant, you get to see all of the main shows, and you get to visit Castaway Cay. Those are the highlights of the cruise. It is nice to have more time, but you will get the best of the best no matter which cruise you choose.
