We just got back (Jan 15th) from AKL. It's a fantastic resort. I read the Unofficial Guide and when I made my ressies with CRO requested a very specific view. I called a few days before I left to make sure it was noted. Unfortunately the room assigner did not place us where I wanted. When we checked in, I again made the request and told the CM we wanted to see both zebra and giraffes and wanted to be in the middle of the savanna close to the elevators. She was so nice. She said 'let me see what I can do' and got us a perfect view==fourth floor Kudu trail, third building from the end, looking into the Arusha savanna. We were high enough to get a good view of the savanna, but low enough to see all the animals well. In the middle of the trail we were looking straight out across the middle of the savanna at Arusha rock and beyond. We weren't too far from the elevator either. Each savanna is 11 acres, but the Arusha savanna appears much larger than the other two and has Arusha rock. All three savannas have giraffes, but Arusha is the only one that has zebras, as they don't get along with the cattle. We looked around at the other two savannas, but Arusha is much better. There are rooms on the Zebra trail and on the Kudo trail that look into the Arusha savanna. The Zebra trail is on the same side as the restaurants and pool, while the Kudo trail is on the same side as check-in. Remember though that when you walk in, you are on the third floor and must take an elevator off to the right to get downstairs to the pool and restaurants. I would request to be looking into the Arusha savanna rather than a certain trail, as depending on which side of the hallway you are on, you maybe looking into a different savanna.
By the way, if you need to have boarding passes printed the day you leave, you can have guest services do it for you. We got ours the morning we left (free of charge).
