Thanks to 40 % Pin, doing unplanned trip Labor Day Week. Was able to snag LeCellier for a 205 lunch, but the 2 nights we're going to Epcot all is full except Les Chefs-which I tried and didn't like and Nine Dragons. Every 15 minute time slot is open from 5-8, so it has me wondering why? Can anyone give me reason why its never full and some takes on the food?

I actually LOVE nine dragons! My DD wanted to try it last trip so she and I went there as walk-in's and it was absolutely excellent. The service was wonderful, the food great, and it was nice and peaceful and cool in there. We will be going back next week. give it a try!

One of our favorites! We ignored it for many years figuring we can get good Chinese food at home. Tried it a year ago for lunch when we were hungry, it was unbearably hot outside, we were near the China pavilion and didn't want to walk anywhere else, and it looked nice and cool inside. We really enjoyed it. The restaurant is beautiful, we had a lovely waitress and the food was very tasty. They have a spinach noodles with pepper shrimp dish that we love. We returned for another lunch later in the week we enjoyed it so much.

We also like that we can usually get in even when everything else is full. I think that's a function of the fact that the restaurant is one of the larger in Epcot and the fact that many people think like we did -- why eat Chinese when there are other choices?

Having said that, it is a bit pricey when eating OOP, but we enjoy the food and ambience enough that we don't mind.

I do not think it is a bad place to eat.....
the food is average nothing special but the amount they give you is small--not like it was a few years ago...
if you like chineese food without the leftovers as most are use to... then it is great..

I had no issues with service or portion size or anything of that sort - I just didn't like the food. Rather goto the counter service nearby.

:goodvibesMy family loves Nine Dragons!!! We eat there everytrip. I for one am very picky about any chinese food. At home there is only 1 restaurant I will go to and it is 20 minutes away. That being said....I love Nine Dragons too!

We ate there last year and it was good.
It's not one of those places that you MUST it at every year( at least not for us) but it was good. I can't remember what either of us ordered but I know we were full when we left and we didn't get sick afterwards. :thumbsup2
I think it's one of those places that people either like or don't. I would give it a try just to know for sure yourself.
Have a wonderful vacation.

I love Nine Dragons!!

We're NYers (we have great chinese food here in NYC) so we don't really put this restaurant on a must-eat list, but we have gone a couple of times when we can't get San Angel Inn and Le Cellier and the food is always great.:thumbsup2

I ate there last August with my boyfriend as we didn't have an ADR and just decided to walk up. They sat us in 5 minutes and the place was practically empty. I don't have any complaints; it was typical "strip mall" Chinese food in a typical setting. I think the problem is that a lot of people expect it to be more than that (and it costs A LOT more than your typical Chinese place). We enjoyed our meals and service. We had the General Tso's chicken dumplings for an appetizer and I had Kung Pao Chicken and he had the Honey Sesame chicken.

We ate at Nine Dragons during CP in December as it was the only place we could get last minute ADRs when we unexpectedly had to change ours (I ended up in a wheelchair, but that's a whole other story. :))

Most of the food was much better than we expected it would be. We had never been to Nine Dragons on any of our 14 trips. We always passed it by but we are actually making ADRs for this next trip.

The only disappointments were the Sweet and Sour soup and the Dumpling Soup. They were both kind of salty and a big greasy but other than that we were very happy. :)

We found nine dragons to be ok, nothing spectacular but not horrible either. I personally would skip eating there from because Chinese foods generally makes me sleepy and lazy and thats the last thing I want to be when i have to walk around the parks afterwards.

You are right :thumbsup2
9D is totally just like the food court or strip mall chinese joints... :rotfl:

My problem is that I expected it, as a table service restaurant in Epcot, to be an example of good chinese food- a balance of meat, veggies and either rice or noodles and it was definitely not that. :confused3

My husband ordered the "cucumber appetizer" and received a plate of pickles

My honey sesame chicken was just that- battered chicken in sauce on a plate with a little white rice- nothing special or anything else with which to balance the flavor of sweet fried chicken. :headache:

It's like you can get meat or you can get veggies, but not in the same dish or at the same time... weird! :sad1:

Our local chinese restaurant, in our very rural red-neck community is much better than 9D... :sad2:

So I guess the bottom line is that if you like food court chinese(honestly, I think food court Chinese would be an improvement :rolleyes1 ), than this is the place for you,
but...
if you are hoping for a special meal with unusual flavors and a balanced veggie/meat/starch dining experience such as you might get in a good quality restaurant, then 9D may not be the place for you.

Either way, have a great trip!

We have eaten there and it was good! We generally do not gravitate toward this restaurant, but only because I work in Chicago near Chinatown and eat Chinese pretty regularly.

P/S ... I have had lots of "strip mall chinese" and Nine Dragons is much better!

We ate there once and it was terrible, will not go back but we do love the CS in China

We found the food to be very, very bland and way overpriced. (We were there for dinner.) The restaurant was very crowded (tables too close together) and noisy. We will never eat there again.
