Please explian why you can Exchange with RCI....

JudyS,
I own at the Sheraton Vistana Resort - Orlando, I have a 2/2/8, Lakes. This is a float (1-52), Season Red. Under RCI it's listed as "Gold".

Judy I would agree with you until now.

I own a Landmark Holiday Beach Resor it is in Panama City beach, Florida - 2-bedroom - a great resort for me. It has one of the best views of the Gulf - really wonderful views - the people are great and are trying their absolutely best to make it a great resort. but it can never competive with DVC or Marriott - no way....

So I am very surprised when it traded for a DVC - yes only a studio at SSR - but I got it...

I was expecting a 1-bedroom Marriott for it - I got a list of several 3-bedroom and several Marriott.

Now I know that II has been trying to get more timeshares in the Panhandle - but I never expected my little timeshare to get such a great trade.

so in some places II is trying to get more resorts and will give those resorts great places - at least for now.

Oh they also gave me a bonus week (AC) - I can't believe that. It was a September week not a Spring Break week....

Tigger2ntinkerbell - I know this does not make you feel any better... I am sorry about that.

But II is also trying to make its member happy and going for places as well as top resorts.

I would think that II would consider this a high quality resort (although I know Vistana has several phases, and some are nicer than others.) So, rather than quality being an issue, it may be the limitations on trading back into Orlando. I just joined II, so I don't know how strict those limitations are -- can anyone here explain them?

Since RCI doesn't have search first capacity, you might want to ask someone who owns a week similar to yours to do a trade test into Orlando for you. That would give you a much better idea of whether joining RCI and depositing your week is worthwhile.

I though it was the Orlando too - but if she can trade into the Marriott in Orlando - I don't know why DVC is not showing????

they didn't on mind until I added Landmark.

but that was Westgate only showing Westgate -

if she can see Marriott - I would think she would be able to see DVC...

Call II and ask why you can't see DVC - and see what they tell you.

especially since she has both sheraton and worldmark - one of them should be seeing DVC.

I don't think the OP ever mentioned owning Worldmark ...?

I have seen many Marriotts . But when I call II and ask about Disney Property- they state that if it did come up (which is very, very rare), it's gone. But I have yet to see one posted. One year when I deposited my week( I gave II a year to search), and ask II to call me when a Disney property became available . The lady brushed me off and told me to pick something else. :( , I guess I have to be a Sheraton VIP to get Disney. And II never called back . I ran out of time waiting and transferred my week into Hotel points instead. Has this happened to anyone else. And if you did get Disney "HOW " did you do it???.

thru tug - they will also show you how to make the most out of your timeshare

www.tug2.net

you need to join it to use the sights/distress board - but most of the time where a DVC resort is on II list - it will apppear here - they are really great about post DVC resorts.

remember that most of the DVC resorts will either be studios or 1-bedroom - not many 2-bedrooms will be posted.

with II a studio will get you most of the time a 1-bedroom or studio, a 1-bedroom will get you most of the time a 2 or 1-bedroom, a 2-bedroom will get you 2 or 3 bedroom.

so unless they had to have a 2-bedroom - DVC members would probably only put in a 1-bedroom.

your chances of getting a studio are very good, your chances of getting a 1-bedroom are pretty good, your chances of getting a 2-bedroom in the season you want even with the help of tug are still pretty limited.

I've booked BWV twice through II. Both reservations were booked as exchanges against Worldmark credits and both were found online (not using an II rep). I have to use the "search online" feature as my needs are "1 resort, 1 check-in date" ... which fails II's requirement for "3 resorts or 3 check-in dates" when using the open search.

Agreeing, yet again, with spicycat - monitoring TUG's Sightings board will give you an edge. At best, you'll book a DVC week thanks to a sighting posted by other members. At worst, you'll gain a better understanding of your week's ability to pull DVC.

Please explain Worldmark credits???. I've never heard of this . Is it an exchange company???
Worldmark the Club (WM) is one of my other timeshares.

Similar to DVC, it is a points-based system allowing owners to book any size unit, any week, at any of WM resort locations for nearly any length of time. WM uses "credits" (instead of DVC's points) as a vacation currency for booking resort stays, cruises, event tickets, etc.

For additional flexibility, WM owners may exchange their credits through Interval International (II), RCI Weeks, or RCI Points.

To help explain my earlier statement, I've been able to book two different stays in DVC's Boardwalk Villas by exchanging my WM credits through Interval International. The number of WM credits required depends on the size unit and "season" of my intended destination (a BWV studio was fewer credits than booking a 1BR for the same week).

Hope this helps?
