Please explain the allure of Le Cellier?

Le Cellier was good...but we agree with the OP. It's overrated! This was not a must-do for us this year.

Our reasons for returning are no where near "bang for your buck". It was the best meal of our trip last year (but we don't do 2 TS places). My husband and I each had steaks that were tender and cooked perfectly. I had the shrimp appy and LOVED it and desserts were not lacking either! It was one of the only 2 places that my husband insisted that we return too.

We've eaten there several times. Two things draw us back. The quality of food & the quality of service. We've never had a bad experience at Le Cellier.

I agree! Especially about the service; we eat here EVERY trip - once a year since 2000. Have had the nicest and friendliest service.

I also don't understand the complaints about how close the tables are. What restaurant in Epcot IS roomy? I feel pretty cramped in Mexico, China, and Italy - just to name a few. I don't think it's worse than any other restaurant in Epcot.

I tried--with no luck, not a surprise--to book a dinner today at Le Cellier for mid-May. Relatively speaking, we're planning at somewhat short notice, so I suppose I never really had a chance.

To be honest, I've never before had much desire to try Le Cellier, but we'll be at WDW for DH's birthday, and he is a major steak lover so I thought I'd try for a nice birthday meal. We'll be at MK during the day and have a CP breakfast planned that day, so lunch is out.

Someone had mentioned better (equal, at least?) steaks elsewhere on property. Any suggestions to try for an ADR with a few weeks notice? We're traveling with DS2, so any premiere/very formal restaurants are out as options.

The only TS places I have eaten in WS are Rose & Crown and Le Cellier--because I am a picky eater. No foods mixed together, no sauces (on the side is okay, I may experiement. But I want the option.), and little or no seasoning. Sorry! Food has to taste good without a lot of extraneous stuff!

We loved Le Cellier in 2003--it was cozy, but we didn't feel our neighbors were seated at the same table. In 2006, I had difficulty not bumping elbows with the gentleman seated at the next table! *eek*

The food was good both times. The second time, our server just did not understand "sauce on the side" or "sauce in a separate dish." I sent my food back four times before they got it right! *sigh*

My husband and I always request one of the tables in a corner making it feel a lot less crowded. He's in love with the mushoom filet mignon and I think mushrooms are GROSS! Lol. I always tell him to brush his teeth before I will kiss him because they literally make me gag! But I really love the pretzel bread and the atmosphere. Again though, we make a point to get a more secluded table.

I agree though, if it weren't for the fact that we are going for over 14 days and have the DxDP, we probably wouldn't make a TOP priority.

Narcoossee's for me and Victoria & Alberts for him, and both of us LOVE Jiko so THEY are top priority.

We love Le Cellier and eat there every time. DD loves the pretzel bread and I love the Cheddar Cheese Soup. DH just goes where ever we tell him (so he says). I already have a ADR for August and am waiting for April 14th to roll around so I can make our October ADR's. You can be sure that Le Cellier will be on the list.

I agree. I went once, it was delicious, nice servers, etc. but I'd rather eat elsewhere in the WS. I can get steak at home. When I'm in WS I want Marrakesh, or Bistro de Paris or something else I normally wouldn't be able to order at any local steakhouse.

i will say that going for an early (right after they open) lunch is the least crowded we've ever seen here - and when we were lucky enough to get one of the coveted back booth seating areas, we enjoyed it much better

we dont have DDP and we try to go to Le Cellier each trip......but last year because of the free dining at both our trips we were not able to get a reservation.........we do for May though......
I love the Cheddar Cheese soup and wish I could of gotten it for take out last year......and I do love their bread sticks..Pretzel is my favorite one.......
Hubby and I are carnivores and we like our meat......their prime rib is excellent.....so I do like it there and can hardly wait to go again

I have been twice; 2006 with my DD and 2007 with my DH. Both dinners were wonderful. The food was delicious, but I think my overall vacation "mood" and my dining companions factor heavily in my recollections. During my first visit we had an exceptionally quiet table and excellent service.

The second trip we found ourselves in the middle of the restaurant (with one of our neighboring tables' small children literally writing on the table with their food ) But my DH and I said a prayer, ordered a bottle of wine, and looked only at each other... And the duck confit appetizer was beyond fantastic. The poor mother to my right did apologize to her server (I was basically sitting at their table), but she would have had to left a huge tip to cover the damage those kids did. Food was everywhere...the table, the chairs, the floor. I have never seen anything like it, and I am a mom, former teacher, and nanny.

We were there last weekend and I must say I was quite disapointed. Food was okay, but certainly not that great, we have had much better steaks in Canada and elsewhere in Epcot (Chefs the France had the best steak IMHP).

Also, beef at Le Cellier IS NOT from Canada. Server told me it was "grass fed Australian beef, so it will be nice and tender". When I almost spit out my wine in surprise, and asked why it wasn't Alberta beef, he said it was because there was an embargo on Canadian beef.
First, in order to be tender, beef should not be running around eating grass, it makes the beef tough.
Second, Canada and the US have much better beef than Australia. So they could at least serve US beef if they don't want to serve Canadian beef.
Third, and most important, the ban on beef from Canada was lifted TWO years ago!!!

As a Canadian, I was not impressed. We will not go back. Not even worth 1 TS. At least we got to try it.

I think the allure of Le Cellier is the quality of the steak. Canadian beef is a higher quality of meat. The steaks at Le Cellier reflect that.

For two years from 2003-2005 the U.S. banned the import of Canadian beef due to mad cow fears. During that time was when the DISBoards "discovered" Le Cellier and it became increasingly popular.

We've been eating here since 2002 fairly regularly - and the best steak we've had at Le Cellier was mid-ban - in 2004. The worst steak we had was the last one in 2007.
