Please Explain Summer Crowds

Go when all but Deluxe and higher APs are blocked out. Frankly, the least crowded days this summer so far have been Saturdays. Only the two top tier APs are valid then, and it is SO empty. It is MOST crowded on days when Southern CA AP holders are allowed to come. I would say go first week of August and expect Saturday to be the least crowded day.

Talk about confusing. In some cases, avoid the weekends. In other cases, Saturdays are the best.
I see what you mean in that the Deluxe Annual and the Southern California Select Annual Passport are both blocked on Saturdays.
But both Signature level passes have no summer blockout dates. If we went the week of Aug 15th, then the Southern California Select Annual Passport is still blocked at least.

I also suspect surge pricing has had a bigger effect than many people expected. The surcharge for a peak day ticket is pretty hefty.

Peak pricing is only for single day tickets, right?

One more question...When do they release the Annual Pass dates for 2017? The calendar currently goes until June 2017.

It's usually about a year in advance, so August 2017 won't come out until August or September this year.

Like I tried to say before, the AP levels look deceptive because Signature and Signature Plus are really both just taking the old "Premium" spot, and there's still a SoCal pass in play that you just can't buy but that many still have, so there are a higher percentage of passholders blocked on some of those days than you realize... But again, the main thing to pay attention to in August would be whatever date those lower-tier passes stop being blocked.

Thanks so much. I saw what you meant by the old passes that exist through renewal but are no longer sold from the Disneyland site.

It looks like the best bet is to avoid August 22 to end of the month, so I think we'll aim for August 15 week, which most likely will work to go on Haunted Mansion.
