I saw that there will be a Mardi Gras event when we will be at US March 3rd.

What does that mean? from what I read there is a concert and a parade.

-What time does this happen at? is this after regular park hours?
-is it included in the base ticket or is it a separate ticketed event
-If it's after hours, are the rides still open?
-Is it kid friendly?
-When are concert schedule released?

the concerts would be on a Friday or Saturday.
there is no charge to see the band.

your park ticket covers that.

the park will get crowded due to the concert.
(held at the studios side)

rides will still be operating. not all guests are interested in the parades and concerts.

is it kid friendly?
i am assuming your term of kid friendly has to do with language and physical movements.

depends on the band.
Kelly Clarkson will be an act for it and she is okay with all ages.
basically, all the groups will be appropriate..

the line up hasn't been announced yet so i have no way to tell you if the other groups are kid friendly.

it generally starts around 4pm or so,performers dressed in all sorts of costumes, stilt walkers start coming out around this time, there will be a section with New Orleans style food booths,a smaller stage with groups straight from New Orleans start playing. The parade simply put is my favorite parade at any park as it's extremely festive and you can catch dozens of beads. The concert starts after the parade and depending who's playing can make the event super crowded. It's all included with regular admission.the rides continue until closing time so it's possible the park might close at 8pm at the same time the parade starts and the concert might not start until 8:45pm and last until well after 10pm,so the rides would have closed at 8pm but there'll be people in the parks until 11pm or later depending how long the concert runs.I believe the event to be kid friendly, there could be concerts that get so crowded a kid might not be happy but it's still a family event. One thing I'm a little baffled is how long it's taking them to come up with the concerts,so far only Kelly Clarkson and they have to announce 13 more groups for an event that starts next month,it's never taken them this long in previous years.

I assume when you ask if it is kid friendly, you are wondering if the New Orleans aspect of drunken people screaming at young women to "Show Your ****" goes on. No it does not. Some people do get drunk but there is no way Universal will stand for that type of offensive behavior. The raciest activity are the stilt walking actors, male and female, walking around in skimpy outfits, but no worse than what cheerleaders wear nowadays.

Thanks for all your answers.

I too find it very odd that they haven't announce anything except for Kelly Clarkson, especially since it starting next month. Thank again I am use to WDW where we know everything months in advance ;)

So if I understand this correctly - according to the schedule posted on US website the park closes at 8pm on March 4th.

So the parade will start at 8pm, followed by the concert. Are the rides closed or opened? I read one post that said it's closed another said they were opened :confused3

The rides will close at the parks closing time, the parade and concert will begin around closing time and last 2-3 hours after closing time.

The parade is a lot of fun and always has beautifully crafted floats. Children love trying to catch beads so make sure everyone has the opportunity to see it while you're here.

From ParkRumors, they say they were sent in the rumored lineup by a source.

Boyz II Men – Sunday, Feb. 19th
Diana Ross – Saturday, Feb. 25th
TBA – Saturday, Mar. 3rd
Big Time Rush – Saturday, Mar. 10th
J Cole – Friday, Mar. 16th
TBA – Saturday, Mar. 17th
Hot Chelle Rae – Friday, Mar. 23rd
B.o.B – Saturday, Mar. 24th
Plain White T’s – Friday, Mar. 30th
Prince Royce – Saturday, Mar 31st
Cyndi Lauper – Saturday, Apr. 7th
KC and the Sunshine Band – Saturday, Apr. 14th

From that list...I see five or six concerts I will be attending.

I would love Heart and Pat Benatar on the two TBA weekends.
;)

I checked the web sites for each performer listed above. Only KC and the Sunshine Band has an Orlando TBA on their date (Clarkson was also scheduled but she was officially cited). None of the others, however, have anything listed that would contradict the rumor. So far, looks like a good rumor. I can see me do day trips there the first 2 Saturdays and maybe others.

our course the date we will be there is TBA :rotfl:

I'll keep checking :cutie:

I saw Boyz II Men at Epcot during Food and Wine, they easily brought the biggest crowds I've ever seen at the festival at Epcot.I don't think they've been at Universal before and I'm assuming they'll do the same at Universal.
