Here's what happened. Originally, I got a fantastic AP rate at AKL for Xmas week. I was so excited. THEN my friend I was going with was going to have to drop out and I thought I was not going to be able to go so I canceled my reservation. Well, now that friend IS going to be able to go and when I called CRO they did not have AKL Standard and the best rate they could give me was for CSR which was actually a fabulous rate which came out just over $600.00 for the week.

I have never stayed at CSR but did visit and did eat in their food court. I don't know, I was just not that excited about the place. Can some of you CSR diehards talk it up for me??? I am calling back every few days to see if AKL comes back up but it hasn't looked to good so far.

So tell me...what's so great about CSR?

Thanks!

We stayed at CSR in July '03 for 7 nites and had a great time. We stayed in Cabanas 9B. We walked out our room and was at the Quiet Pool. We really enjoyed that pool, it was alot less crowded than the Mayan Pool. We did go to the Mayan Pool each day for a little while so my DD-7yo could play on the slide. The walk to it was just a few minutes. And it just took a few minutes to walk to the food court. Actually the walk was relaxing and peaceful. The food at the food court wasn't great but it problably isn't any better than any other food court. Prices didn't alarm us-my thinking: anything at DW is over priced but that's life. To me, it was worth it. My DH has already said we will stay there next time. We didn't use the buses, we drove. It was very easy getting to the parks. I'll be glad to answer any more questions. My direct email is ddreneeT@charter.net

It's a beautiful resort....The rooms are squeeky clean....We had an awesome view of the lake from our Casitas room and I took some nice pictures of the colors of the sunrise on the water....The Mayan pool was sooo warm! I usually don't swim when we stay at a hotel but I couldn't help myself this time.

The bad stuff - The Pepper Market was just ok. We mainly ate at sit down restaurants in the parks so we didn't mind. We mainly used it for drinks and desserts. They do have a good chicken alredo and it's HUGE! Also, if you don't get a cabana that is close (we requested and didn't get one), you will get lots of exercise.

The buses don't seem to be very speedy. We joked that the CSR only has one bus that alternates between all the the parks...One nice thing about the buses, when coming back from a park, we would get off at the Pepper Market stop to get a late night snack or drink. We'd ask for the food to go and then stroll back along the lake to our room. It's a pretty walk. Getting off at the Pepper Market stop saved us from walking from the room to the food court and back to the room again. Just an idea for you if you get a far away room.

If you go in regretting you did not get AKL the whole time then you won't enjoy CSR but if you go in with an open mind, yoou'll have a great time. CSR one of the best main pool areas on property, terrific transportation, beautiful landscaping and some good dining choices.

Check out my website below for more detail and pics.

Don't be bummed about CSR! It's really a great moderate! We stayed in Casitas 4 with a water view. The room is very festive and I love the architecture of the place. You can rent little boats and zoom around the lake, and the Dig Site pool is great fun. No, it's not a deluxe but it's still a great resort.

The only differance between csr and any deluxe, is the room is slightly smaller, and the location. However the location is just as good as akl. The bus service is the best of any resort (deluxe or moderate) we've stayed at. We liked the food court, just a word of advice; it's a good idea to split entres, they give you too much food.

The pool area is the best of all resorts except yc/bc.

The grounds are fanastic.

A deluxe has to have a big discount to compete with csr.

Don't worry you'll be happy .

Adventurekat depending on the dates you were looking for I might be able to help you with your AKL deliema...I have ressies I might not be using....PM me if you are interested....

Hello,

I have to chime in on the positive reviews for Coronado. I have now stayed there 3 times, and really love it. It is closer to a deluxe resort than the other moderates, the grounds are beautiful, and the main pool and hot tub area is very nice. There are also quiet pools in each section too. I would suggest trying for building 9B, which is close to the main building, bus stop, and a short walk to to the main pool.

The Pepper Market is a step above other moderate food courts, but they do have some problems with slow seating of people, and that annoying 10% service charge, which seems a waste, since we often end up refilling our drinks ourselves instead of waiting for the server.

Coronado is also the only moderate resort with a health club, which my oldest daughter finds handy.

Hope that helps, and check out the thread on this site pertaining to CSR, it's very good.

Take care,

Bill

Looks kinda like the Adventurers Club without walls, doesn't it?

Thanks everyone. I feel better about it. I certainly got a great deal on it, especially for that week. I am sure we will have a great time and the $200.00 I save from AKL I can put toward the next trip. :)

We are staying at CSR becuase we can't afford AKL this trip. Although we love AKL, we are excited about CSR. The slide looks awesome. All of the pictures I have seen look beautiful.

We can't wait to try it out.

I too am big CSR fan. I have some pics and video on my website. It really all depends on what attitude you go with. If you have your heart set on the AKL then you may be less than enthused. (On a side note I stayed at AKL last May and was wishing I was at Coronado Springs the whole time I was there)
When I first visited CSR in 1998 I went to the Pepper Market for lunch. I didn't know what to make of the place. I eventually made a reservation a couple of years later and fell in love almost immediately. It really all depends on the atmosphere you enjoy.

:D

I stayed at the CSR in 2002 and I loved it. I stayed in the Ranchos section and I thought it was the best section on the three. The landscaping/scenery at the CSR is nothing short of spectacular. Plus, there are plenty of things to do, like rent a water mouse, hang out at the awesome main pool (the Dig Site), and but some souvenirs at the resorts gift shop. I wasn't a big fan of the Pepper Market, but the food was good, it's the system that stinks. The overall service was great, despite a minor setback that occurred, but the management took care of it. I would definitely stay at the CSR again. Oh yeah, don't forget to take a walk at night around the resort......very romantic.

It's not our first choice, but having stayed there twice, I think you'll be fine. We liked our room location in May(nearest room to the parking lot= less walking and no valet parking). It's really very pretty.

Yay!:bounce: That's the way to look at it.:teeth:

Also, the CSR(as of july 2003) has the only ON-SITE hairdresser that braids hair... in those really thin multipe braid the kids love!!! My girls wore theirs until their head was more sunburned than their bodies!!!
