Please don't laugh...Is this really a pic of an SSR room - or old Treehouse villas???

Sure is. How is it none of the other sites have anything?

Hmmm. Anyone else notice the 2 beds in the bedroom rather than a king size bed? Don't know that I like that. And what happened to the kitchen?

Jim,
I have no idea but I was dying to know what the rooms looked like so did a google search and came up with this.

Can someone translate for us what it says on that page? I know - alot of work but I sure would appreciate it and I have a feeling others would too.

I do wonder what's up with the 2 beds too. Is it a studio rendering?

I don't think that those are pics of SSR. There is glass in the coffee table shown. I don't think that Disney would design a room with something that could be hazardous to children like that.

The floorplan shown is for one of the old Disney Institute bungalows, not a new SSR room. We stayed in such a bungalow a number of years ago for a Disney Institute program. I think this is a false alarm, since the bungalows have been torn down!

The details on the web page are describing the old Disney Insitute set up of bungalows, townhouses, treehouses and grand vista homes.

The photo depicts room theming that I do not remember from my several stays at Disney Institute.

Oh, I'm sorry....Is that what the original treehouse villas looked like? I feel silly...

How is it none of the other sites have anything?

This is a Latin America site. Maybe they don't need to worry about any legal issues concerning starting sales before the license is completely approved.

That said, this appears to be a Resort page, not a DVC listing. I'm confused by what we are looking at. Is it possible they are refurbishing the other parts of the old DI? Maybe they'll be "rooms" and there will be DVC rooms?

This is whetting my appetite for a real announcement. Come on DVC! ;)'

Thanks for the detective work, Hula Girl!

Today when I talked to my guide about adding on at SSR, she DID mention that some of the old "treehouse villas" were being maintained and would be now considered part of SSR, although not part of DVC. I guess they had nothing else to do with them. That's why they are listed as SSR, they will now be considered "part" of the new resort. I guess they will continue to be available for cash. She also told me the first phase includes 12 buildings, for what that's worth!

The panoramic photo is of one of the old Townhouses (there were 1 and 2BR townhouses). The bedroom(s) were upstairs. These are all gone and the site is where the current SSR contruction is taking place.

As mentioned, the floorplan shown is for the bungalow unit- which has also been torn down.

The Fairway Villas still exist (and are being used to house College Program CMs). The Treehouse Villas still exist and are empty.

The Grand Vista Suites also remain at this time, but are unlikely to become part of SSR/DVC, IMO.

It looks like they have simply used the prior description page for DI and substituted the SSR name on the page. I'm sure it will be updated soon, but I also expect there will be some concrete information available, in English, on the WDW site very soon.

I will be there next weekend and intend to get any information available onsite (including a tour of the SSR models).

Stay Tuned!

Exactly!

The descriptions are of the old Villas at Disney Institute. These are not the new, purpose-built DVC condos.

The old Disney Institute facilities were rebranded as the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. And, for some reason, the Disney's official Latino site has chosen to extend this branding to the currently-closed Villas at Disney Institute -- some of which have been torn down, but some of which are still standing and could reopen.

One reason could be that old (but rebranded) rooms really will be part of the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa -- though, I would think, only for cash stays, not as part of the inventory that will be sold as DVC.

for an approximate translation of the site, go to http://world.altavista.com
and type in the URL into the "Translate a Web page" box.

i used Altavista's Babelfish program a lot last year when planning my whirlwind Europe trip. it does an adequate job of translating foreign language websites.
not perfect (some phrases don't make sense, like how "bedroom" gets translated into "firing chamber" with this site), but good enough to get a general understanding.

Hi Disneyberry,
Where ya been?:p Thanks for the info on translation - I know I'll be able to use it at some point. For this particular site, it translates "bedroom" as "firing chamber". That tickled my funny bone :p and I've been laughing ever since!

Doc - thanks for the info. Look forward to what you might have for us when you return!

hulagirl, you're welcome :) yup, after i typed my post, i glanced at the translation again and noticed the firing chamber thing, laughed, and then edited my post to include that.

as for where i've been... ;) i've been dreaming about more add-ons... that's where. LOL oh yeah, and besides that, i've been obsessed w/ Pirates of the Caribbean and Captain Jack Sparrow. :p

LOL!:p Oh my, me too! Can you imagine Captain Jack Sparrow in the firing chamber?:p
Shame on me!!!!!!!Sorry folks, we got waaaaayyyyyy off topic here!

The Fairway Villas still exist (and are being used to house College Program CMs).
Which college program CMs are housed there? The college CMs are at Visitana Village. Is this something new???? The college CMs that I know of, that are currently on the summer college CM program and also the ones going for the fall program are being housed at Vistana Village.
If this is so, I wonder if the college program CMs will still continue to be housed at SSR after it opens?? Could make for a very busy, party atmosphere in the WDW DTD area resorts.

Looks like they just took the DI site and changed the name. I noticed this method a another places too I think it was Deb Wills site I believe.
