Coming in to stay with 2 other couples staying at BCV. They're from Michigan, first timers, and want to watch the Detroit Lions game Sunday at some bar-like atmosphere. The bizarre thing is that the game starts at 9:30 am since its in London. Any place that serves alcohol open that early??

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but I'm from Louisiana and a firm believer in "It's 5 o'clock somewhere! " So, believe me, no judgment here!
:smooth:

Raglan Road serves Sunday brunch but not sure what time they open and they probably wouldn't have the game on.

Maybe ask the night before if the TV would be on in the lounge and bring your own?

That's a big game, I bet the ESPN Club opens early for it! I would call them and ask. :thumbsup2

Splitsville in DTD may be another place that would open early for that game if ESPN is not.

Hey thanks to all-- looks like Splittsville opens at 10:00 so that's our best bet so far!!

You're right, that is bizarre! I don't recall the NFL ever doing that before.

I would think it would be even more bizarre if ESPN wasn't open for that game.

Judge??? If there's an NFL game being played, it's Miller Time. :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

Such a weird inconvenient game time. I bet ESPN will open early. If I was still a CM I would check but sadly can't anymore. You can call and see. If not I would say stock up
and watch in the room! You might find some other fans looking for a place to watch haha.

Don't judge -- hell, why do you think bloody mary's and mimosas exist? Anyhow, I'm 99% in agreement -- I"d be shocked if ESPN doesn't open for an NFL game. Also, I was going to suggest Splitsville as I have been there for football and/or baseball games. I know for a fact that there was a guy sitting at the Pool bar at the GF during the winter olympics at 9am drinking bloody mary's while watching the bobsleds at 9am -- because I was THAT GUY. They had 3 big screen tvs in the bar.

There will be someplace to watch it. Disney isn't stupid!

I'd also suspect ESPN Club will open early. You can call them directly to find out. It would be worth it to know because if you can get in there early, it's definitely the most fun place to watch it.

Well that are at 1pm Eastern time so not so bad. I just never knew they actually played games overseas.

They've been doing it since 2007 or 2008. This is actually the second game being played in London this season. The Dolphins and the Raiders played in mid September and the Jaguars and the Cowboys (How bout them Cowboys?!) will be playing November 9!

been going on for a few years now. even college football and basketball does it on occasion

I will admit during my college years I didn't follow football as much. I'm getting back into it so still being shocked over things that changed years ago.

I knew they played overseas games, I've just never heard of one starting at 9:30 Eastern. 6:30 a.m. Pacific??? That's crazy.

When we were at Dsineyland we were at ESPN Zone at 10:00am for a 1:00 o’clock EST football game. We had a few “Daddy Pops” before lunch. No judgment here, it was a cool atmosphere too! And Go Blue (assuming your name is referring to The University of Michigan).

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! 9am with a bloody...can't beat that. Now I'm understanding alcohol is being served bright and early at AK now, so after EE, it's cocktail time. :cool1:
