I have a question. I just want to know if this can be done. I don't want opinions on whether or not it is "OK" to do it. Thanks ahead of time!
I have 2 adults and 2 children in my party. At CS locations, could one adult go up and purchases 2 adult lunches, then the other adult go up and purchases 2 more adult lunches? Would this work?

Yes, this would work...just as just getting 4 adult meals all at once would work.

We did it in OCT & MAY....DH & I & DD4&dd20mths...I'd order 3 adult meals while he sat w/the kids w/o a problem....DD20mths wasn't on plan so we shared...I won't judge because the MAIN reason we did it is so the kids just didn't get chicken fingers & fries at every meal...I was able to get rotisserie chicken for them to share w/carrots & mashed potatoes or sandwiches w/fruit. Glad the kids meals are change some..

So even though your card said 2 Adults, 1 Child you were able to get 3 Adult meals?
And - thank you to all 3 for your non judgemental answers.

I think, but am not sure, it is going to use adult credits on your allotment of meal credits. This is how it should work:

Let's say that you have 8 adult counter service and 8 children's counter service credits. When you go and order 4 adult meals, you will then have a balance of 4 adult counter service and 8 childrens. So, at the next meal, if you order 4 more adult meals, you will have a balance of 8 children's meals and no more adult meals.

But, I may be wrong, maybe someone else will chime in with a definate answer.

The most recent people returning have verified that they are still not separated and in the case you gave, the card would start at 16 counter service meals. If the OP ordered 4 adult CS meals, then they would have 14 CS meals.

HOWEVER

This can of course change at any time.

I was having trouble last weekend finding something my DD would like off the children's menu at a CS restaurant. The cashier told me that the CS meals are not broken up into adult's or children's credits, so that I could just order her an adult meal, which I did without a problem. We did the same thing at another CS place too. HTH.

Okay then, I stand corrected! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the information. I wasn't concerned about my kids finding food they will eat until all the recent menu changes. It's good to know that at least they'll be able to get something they like at CS meals.

We just returned 2 days ago. It varied restaurant to restaurant. For instance, we did it at Flametree BBQ in Animal Kingdom with no problem, but at some counter service in Typhoon Lagoon and also the CS in China(or, was it Japan?? sorry) at Epcot we had to order from children's menu. BTW, the choices are ridiculous. O.K. maybe for 3 yr. olds, but my 4 and 8 yr old wanted "good" food.

I agree that it varies by CS location. At Backlot express, I tried to order 3 adult meals, the CM looked at my card which said 1A, 2C and said I could only order 1 adult meal. Even though I explained we were in 2 rooms and the other adults were listed on the other room card, he would not let me order all at one time. DH had to get in line with his card and order the others. Just FYI.

That's not true. we returned Friday and adult/child credits are not seperated for CS meals. Parents could absolutely split up and order all adult meals for a family of 4. Our family found it easier and faster to split up anyway. I always ordered 2 meals and DH ordered the other 3. They could have been all been adult meals every time because we were 3Adults/2 kids.

::yes:: When we went in Sept, I used our card that said 2 adults 2 children and I order 4 adult meals. The reason that we did this is NOT so that we could get over on Disney. It was because MY children are not fond of COLD chicken and carrots. They would rather have a cheeseburger and fries if we are eating out. We did not have any problems!!!

Yes. You can do this. But, for our family- 2 adults, 2 children (5 and 9)....2 adult meals were more than enough food for all 4 of us at many counter service locations. 2 double cheeseburgers w/ fries, 2 large soft drinks and 2 desserts were MORE than enough food. 2 adult entrees at Tusker house were more than enough food. 2 adult entrees at the Pop food court were typically more than enough food when you add the desserts and beverages into the equation.

We ended up sharing 2 CS breakfasts and 2 CS lunches most days since we preferred to spread out our meals a bit.

I'd recommend ordering everyone their own meal the first time or two you eat CS and then play it by ear. I know someone who went during free dining and they left with almost 15 CS meals for the 7 of them because they ended up sharing so much and that included eating B, L and D every day.

The 2007 Dining Brochure shows credits being pooled separately as kids and adult categories. I think guests making plans for next year should assume Disney will be separating the credits in the computer system.

If you don't see something your kid likes ask if you can get a kids portion of an adult item. The server may not be able to help you but if enough guests complain Disney will fine tune the menu.

My husband, myself, dd 6, and dd 4 shared 2 adult meals at CS and it was more than enough food everytime.

You know, Disney is not forcing you to get the dining plan. If it does not work for you, then you should not purchase it. If you want to get adult meals, you use adult credits. That's why you pay more for them. If you want to get child meals, you use child credits. That's why you pay less for them. You are not supposed to purchase adult meals with child credits. Similarly, you are not supposed to purchase child meals with adult credits (but that is your loss, not Disney's).

If your children do not like the choices offered to them on the children's menu, it appears the dining plan is not suitable for your family. Either that or pay for adult credits for the entire family.

It's really very simple.

Deb & Bill,

Just in her defense, most of us purchased the dining plan after looking at the menus for kids and adults BEFORE the new kids menus went into effect. It certainly was a shock to me to hear about it just before the trip. And if some Disney CS restaurants (and even some table service ones in our experience) will bend the rules a little to make a nicer vacation for the children, who are we to say differently? Ultimately, we are just trying to ensure a nice vacation for our families and make sure that our children can find some food that they will actually eat. The new menus are obviously not working according to these boards, according to the CM's at some of the restuarants and according to Disney itself (I, among others, got a phone call after emailing, saying that they are still working on it and that they would be willing to work around it to an extent).

Actually, we were told by CMs when we were there a few weeks ago that we could do exactly that - order 4 adult CS meals with our 2 adult/2 kiddo DDP.

So, yes, that did make it very simple for us. :)
