Please Don't Hate Me - I Have a Mug ?

SORRY I DON'T AGREE WITH YOUR LOGIC.

The rules are clearly posted, free refills for the length of your current stay. Virtually all guests have already received enough free drinks during their original stay to pay for the mugs, probably several times over. The question is are you entitled to free soda for your future trips.

Current CM policy seems to be free drinks for all. I'm fine with that. Interesting the way some guests try to bend the rules so they're eligible for free soda but not others. How can Disney identify if it's the original purchaser that has the mug. How about a guest who says, I didn't bring my old mug because it was only good for my original stay. If I knew the rules weren't going to be enforced I would have brought my mug. Shouldn't they be entitled to free soda?

THAT FAMILY isn't any more, or any less, entitled to FREE SODA for their future trips than any other guest. If you consider it stealing in one case then it's stealing in the other.

I meant that is the case where to me it is black and white. As to say, how would you even think that would be okay when they post they bought mugs from someone else to use.
That family did not spend $24.00 for two mugs. The original purchase family did. So Disney has not even made the first round of money from that family, the family that sold the mug did.
To me there is NO WAY to justify that scenario.

I don't agree or disagree with the reusing of mugs that do not have a statement on the mugs that say for only that trip. I have never done it, as we do not buy the mugs because we usually stay at DVC property. I just think this is a "grey" area as there are CM's who have told people it is okay. If I had an okay to reuse a mug, I don't think I would feel guilty either. I am not saying I would do it, but I don't rant at the people who have, when they felt they were cleared to do so.

The two mugs I have from 2002, I love to use and see them as great souveniers. I don't know why people are so set on NOT buying the mugs.

Someone posted that it has "always" been the policy at Disney that mugs are for length of stay only. I usually don't get into this discussion, but have to comment that when we purchased our mugs many years ago, the policy was that the refillable mugs were good "forever". Disney did change the policy and I do respect the new one, but felt I needed to comment on that one. (Just like when there were fewer resorts at Disney, all resort guests were welcome to swim in any other resort's pool, but we won't even GO there!) :)

The official policy is free refills for the length of your current stay. The vast majority of the guests get enough free soda to more than pay for their mugs, at Disney's pricing.

I don't see a big difference between bringing back old mugs for free soda vs bringing back a friends mug vs bringing back a bought mug. In all cases I'm getting soda I'm not technically entitled to. CM's aren't checking to even make sure you're using a Disney mug, there isn't any possible way they're going to ask for your receipt to make sure your family is the original purchaser.

If I buy a used car I get the balance of the warranty. Why wouldn't the refill benefits of the mug transfer to the new owner? Easy, there aren't any refill benefits. It's just a courtesy that the CM's are extending to everyone.

I've never read this but how about selling your mugs at half price to a family checking in? The Disboards has a stroller exchange and a pal Mickey exchange. Why not a mug exchange?

I guess I don't see it that way. I didn't say you would get in trouble with a CM, just saying I don't agree with the people who do. Also, I have said I WOULD NOT BRING A MUG BACK!!!! I don't know why you keep arguing, you are supposed to give your opinion to the board, which I am not sure from your posts what it exactly is. :confused3

Also, sorry DIS, but I don't want to share spit with you guys. :rotfl2:

I was told that you could only re-use the mugs while pool--hopping. Is this wrong?

sorry.
:goodvibes
