We have used an AP ticket twice - a 10 day trip and an 8 day trip.
We were able to get 18 days from them. Good deal.
We bought them b/c it was less expensive to visit the 4 main Parks then buying another type of ticket.

However, we plan on going back to WDW in a few years.
We would go for 10 nights.
Our first day is mostly travel. We'll have some late afternoon time. Our last day is travel (leave the resort at 8:30 am).
That leaves us with 9 days to do something.

One day will be Universal - that will give us 8 days left to do the 4 Parks. One day may be used for a water park and DTD.
Then it's 7 days for 4 Parks.

Now that I have rambled ;) - HOW DOES A PARK HOPPER PASS work ? If we bought a 7 day Park Hopper pass - can we do
MK magic morning, monorial it to EPCOT for lunch and a visit,
and then go to MGM for Fantasminc - all on the same day use
of the Hopper Pass ? :)

We would not be planning a repeat visit to WDW within 12 months of the vacation.

I just confused  on how HOPPER works with a pass.
Does it really mean HOP from park to park all with in the same 18 hours ?

Plus my DS & DD do not like the finger scans and paper annual
passes.
They would perfer a plastic pass - especially since they will
be more into water rides and much older (8th and 5th grades).

Yes it means you can hop from park to park with no problem. If you want to spend 10 mins or 5 hours in a park it doesn't make a difference. Just be sure to get your hand stamped when leaving the parks.

If you need it for7 days that is the perfect way to go.

We have parked at Epcot, taken the monorail to MK, then back to Epcot and MGM. Sometimes we also got AK in there too. I enjoy being able to hop from park to park each day we are there.

Pooh,

A 7 day hopper will have park days and a few plusses (I think you get 3 plusses on a 7 day hopper, but don't quote me on that). The 7 days are used in the 4 main parks. Once you go into your first park of the day, one day is taken off the hopper. But you may leave that park and go to any of the other 4 main parks on that same day without using another day. It's all part of "day 1". Since you have 7 days, you can do this 7 times. You do not have to do 7 consecutive days, and any unused days do not expire.

The "plusses" can be used at either of the water parks or Pleasure Island. If you go into Blizzard Beach, one plus is taken off. If on that same day you decide to spend the evening at PI, when you enter PI, another plus is taken off. These are completely separate from the park hopper days. What I mean by that is that if you only went to Blizzard Beach and did not go to any of the 4 main parks, you would not use a park hopper day, only a plus. Also, if you were to go to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning, and then decided to go to Epcot in the eveing, you would use a plus and a day.

The passes themselves look just like an AP. On the back it will say 7 day hopper instead of your name and "annual pass." They are not assigned to a specific person, so there is no finger scan. This also means that if you had a day left over on your pass, 3 years from now your husband could use that day.

Hope this answers your questions!

Just because you choose to buy a PHP does not mean you will automatically get a plastic credit card type pass. If you buy it from Disney (407-WDISNEY, at TDS, online, at WDW) you will get the plastic card. If you buy it from any discounted non-Disney source (AAA, ticket wholesaler) you will still get the mylar paper ticket. You have no choice in that.

Actually, as recently as April of this year, they were still printing park hoppers on the paper at the ticket windows at the Studios.

I ordered hubby a 4-day park hopper online to pick up at will-call. They printed the pass right then, and it was on the mylar paper.

I think it's mainly just a matter of when they run out of stock and change the printers over as to how soon the media will switch over to the plastic.

I would imagine in the next year or so, even APs will be printed on the plastic.
