My birthday is on 2/16 and we will be enjoying my day at one of my fave parks- Animal Kingdom. Friends of mine will be spending the day with me. We have ressies to try Donald's Breakfastosaurus at 10 am. I haven't really heard much on this character breakfast so I wouldn't mind some insight.

Is it usually crowded? Is it a high or low customer to character ratio? Is the food appealing enough? I am a simple girl who loves her Mickey Waffles. Do you think I will enjoy the fare?

TIA! Can't wait to be there next month!

We enjoyed Donald's! There was great character interaction when we were there. The food was just basic breakfast fare, simple, but good. It was a great way to start the day at AK! :)

We enjoyed it, also. We were there 12/8 for an 8:00am ADR. It was raining that whole night and into the morning and I was surprised how many people were there. I did not feel it was overly crowded or anything and we were finished about 10 minutes or so before the park officially opened at 9:00am. We'd do it again. I think I enjoyed Crystal Palace more, simply because the restaurant was so white and airy, whereas Donald's was more rustic and dark. But, if you are going to Animal Kingdom, I'd certainly try to get an ADR.

One piece of bad news - I do not believe they have Mickey waffles. I could be wrong, so don't panic, but I swear I remember a thread a while back about the absence of this loved breakfast staple.

However, I loved the buffet. It was hot, everything was good, good choices on the bread bar and the hot bar. Good service. We had our seating at 10:30 and the food was still good and fresh. We had to wait a while for the characters, but that's because there was a huge group of kids there (school) and everyone wanted an individual pic and autograph and it took a lot of time because they were right next to us. It is noisy, but no worse than Chef Mickey's.

In December they did not have Mickey Waffles, so if that is really important to you I'd hate for you to be disappointed. This is a family favorite for us. The food is always good and plentiful as well as hot. Beverages are in abundance and character interaction as well as CM interaction has always been wonderful. This has been a must for us for the past five trips!

Thanks for the replies everyone :)

***DEEP SIGH***

well...no Mickey waffles huh? I GUESS I will live ;) I will eat them every other morning at the food court at POR so...I will be ok.

Glad to know the food was still fresh and hot at 10:30 for you. What other characters are there? My friend isn't all that excited about Donald...so I need to redeem this meal somehow :)

I did not care for this buffett AT ALL. The buffett is short and the lines were really long and before I got the the end some of my food which started hot was cold. Then if you needed anything there was that long line again.

The bring everyone in the restaurant in waves which is why the lines we so long, everyone arrives at once and everyone wants to eat at once. I say stay away!

Sorry to say that it is a thumbs down for me. Very crowded and the way they seat does seem to stack the place full then it gets empty before the next wave. The characters to guest seemed low and overall I would not go again. Itis the only character meal we would not revisit. If I even mention it my wife says, "no way!" Its a shame because I love AK.

sorry...

We ate there is 1998 & hated it. We gave it another try Dec 2005 & reconfirmed that this is a definate Thumbs Down for us. The food is subpar, the characters were rushed & the lines long. I would pick another place. In fact, I would just hop a bus to AKL & have breakfast at Boma - No characters, but good breakfast food.

We had a terrible experience on our trip last year. I've never, ever been disappointed with any character meal...until this one. My poor kids were sooooo disappointed. It was crowded, service was slow, and the characters were so rushed that my kids barely had time for a picture. The food certainly wasn't anything that made up for it either.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be giving this one another try in the future :sad2:

No Mickey waffles from what I remember too. We did not like this character meal and will never do it again. The food wasn't very good and it was extremely rushed. We've had good experiences with the other character meals but this one gets a huge thumbs down. Don't expect to get much time with the characters--a quick autograph and photo--don't bother standing up, it's that quick. Sorry to be so negative but it was really disappointing.

We were there in mid-December. It wasn't overly crowded. The food was pretty good, I liked the quiche on the hot buffet. Our server was a little slack. We ended up going over to his station to pick up another drink after we couldn't find him for a while. The character interaction was good. It wasn't lengthy, nor were any of the other restaurants we visited. We did get pictures with Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Pluto. They took our picture outside the restaurant in front of a sign and offered it to us during our meal. At about $31, it wasn't worth it. Overall, we enjoyed this character meal, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

Although I'm glad we tried Don's B-fast once, I'll try someplace else next time and also at a slightly earlier time -- not so close to the restaurant switching over to lunch. The character interaction was good, however it took awhile to get around to our table. DS7 was ready to go quite awhile before they made it to us. I was mostly disappointed in the meal though. Although I'm sure it was good when fresh, we had a 10:30 ressie (but not seated until at least 10:45) and they were not replenishing the buffet sufficiently for the remaining diners. They had closed 1/2 of the restaurant and set up barriers while they switched over to lunch and I felt like the workers were looking at us like "would you just hurry up and eat" and "come on, take that last dried up peice of french toast, so we don't have to make more" If I remember correctly I did have to ask for more drinks too. We were not the last diners when we left, there were still several tables with diners trying to enjoy themselves. One would think that they should not accept ressies for so late if they are not going to keep the buffet fresh...or offer to let us begin the lunch line!

Sorry, not a fave. We have few complaints about Disney dining, but this is one we'll skip. We've tried it twice and both times my dh got ill. Once my ds did. So, we'll pass.

This is ALWAYS a family favorite for us, love the buffet, have always loved the character interaction, only remember once felt a little rushed, but think Chrystal palace was the most rushed every time.

Love Goofy and the fab 5, think we've always had minnie in the mix as well. We do tend to ressie this one either really early, or really late, so as to grab FP's on the way in, or ride early then eat.

It IS dark in there compared to some other character meal choices, but it is a different feel..you are in a different type of place..
the food seemed very similar in taste as other character breakfasts...
The interaction was very similar to other meals we have been to...In Dec. when we were there we also did Chef Mickey's...we had WAY less time in Chef Mickey's with each character compared to Donald's...and my older DS got to stand up with each character for a picture..and then they also took a separate picture with my younger DS...

It will be interesting to see what you think. I honestly feel alot of it is ambience/surroundings. It is not bright and fancy looking like Crystal Palace...but it is more along the lines of rustic like Whispering Canyon...
Just a different feel..........

Hope you have a great trip and meals!! :goodvibes

We went for the first time on 12/23/05. I thought it was fine. Our ADR time was 8:30 and we were seated and at the buffet line well before that. We had a good server, very attentive. Good character interaction, but we are adults and teens, no little kids. I would go again. My favorite breakfast personally is at Trail's End at the Campgrounds (and they do have Mickey Waffles there - but not at Donald's).

I am constantly amazed at how Donald's gets an overall bad rap for no reason. They have hot food that tastes good. In the three times we have been there it has been great every time. I do not believe we are just hitting it on "good" days. I have learned that if a place gets downgraded enough people will show up with the expectation that it will be subpar. The self-fulfilling prochecy will always be true. Go to Donald's with a good attitude and you will enjoy. I can find something wrong with everything if I look hard enough.
