Please compare 7 Dwarf Mine Train to BTMRR

We have traditionally not been huge fans of roller coasters, but our last few trips we did the Mine Train and loved it. We haven't done Big River but watching some YouTube videos it looks fairly similar where it is more twisty without big drops. Is that the case? Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

Do you mean Big Thunder?

Big Thunder Mountain RR is a very popular "mild" coaster.
It is far from the intensity of the "extreme coasters" found at other parks around the country.
It is less intense than Disney's Space Mountain, Rock'n'RollerCoaster and Expedition Everest.

I'd rank Big Thunder is a "kissing cousin" of the 7 Dwarf's Mine Train.
If you like (and can "handle") the Mine Train, I think you'd really like Big Thunder.

Thanks so much robo, 7dmt is one of our faves across all of wdw so we'd love it's kissing cousin.

I'm a non-roller coaster person (would never go on RnR and just started going on Space Mtn) and IMO, compared to Mine Train, Big Thunder is more rough and "rickety" but still very fun.

My DS11, who does not like thrill rides at all, loves BTMRR. He will go on 7DMT, but is a little timid about the drop.

There is potential to get wet on BTMRR; not on Dwarfes
BTMRR is a longer ride; Dwarfs is over very quickly
BTMRR tosses you around a bit more; Dwarfs is pretty smooth
BTMRR has more twists and small drops that get to your tummy a bit more easily; Dwarfs has much less of that
BTMRR tends to toss you about in the seat; Dwarfs hold you in pretty securely and you are in your own seat (not sharing)
BTMRR can easily accommodate Pooh-sized guests; Dwarfs can be uncomfortable for those same guest

really? RnR is smooth and tame compared to space mountain or big thunder. and it's in a dark room so you can't really tell which way your pointed.

Their both baby coasters with nothing to fear. Scale of 1-10 I'd put 7dmt at a 4 and big thunder at a 5.

Big thunder is 2 mph faster and has a few more drops..but if you can handle 7dmt then big thunder is nothing

Agree with above poster, they are largely pretty similar with Big Thunder being just a bit more thrilling, but both are pretty tame. If you have done Big Thunder, then 7dmt should not be a problem for you.

I consider BTMR a very mild coaster. It is one of my favorite rides at Disney World!

We enjoy both of them (with the 9 y/o in our party). I agree that BTMRR is longer and more rickety than 7DMT, and the smaller person in the carriage may get squished by a larger person due to the twists and turns. I just wish they would add an in-ride photo as it's what our photopass account is full of.

The OP's question is actually the opposite of that.

Why yes, indeed it is. Thanks for pointing that out Robo! So then, I guess my answer should be a bit different. I think Big Thunder is a bit more intense than 7dmt, yet pretty similar. If 7dmt was a comfortable ride for you, then I would say give Big Thunder a go. If 7dmt was pushing your limits, then you might not want to try Big Thunder.

I hope that is more helpful than my first answer was :)
