Just a quick thought to the very valid points brought up about the tax implications, airing financial worries etc. What if you gifted 1/4 of the $ to each teachers "classroom"? I'm guessing that they spend quite a bit of their own $$ for their classroom use. Then each teacher could choose how he or she wanted to spend the $$ to best benefit their own classroom.
Just a thought.
I don't think I would have even considered the points people brought up so it's probably good that you posted to the Dis with your idea. That way you will at least be aware of potential arguments/problems when you talk to the board. Is there a person on the board that you trust and feel comfortable with who you could run your idea by before the meeting?
Regardless of the issues that might come up, Congratulations for getting such a great prize for your school, for all your hard work, and for your generosity towards and awareness of the struggles of the teachers in your child's school.
I dont know. To me it seems as if you bent the rules. The letter of the rules stated one account per household. The spirit of the rules assumes that each household would have been entering their own codes. You kind of circumvented the contest's intentions by being the sole person who entered codes for numerous accounts. I understand that you did it for the school and not for your own personal gain. But am I the only one who thinks that this was not entirely on the up and up? If the people certifying the results of the contest see that the codes for all of those households were entered from the same isp, they may disqualify your school.Bingo! Buy, peel and enter seems so simple, but yet I'm the only one at our school who ever does it. Once I saw the contest, I knew that I needed other households to enter. I couldn't get anyone else to participate, so I worked it out myself by BEGGING for the people to at least make the accounts and then buying the products with the codes myself (with coupons, LOL! No worries...I was still "budget" about it). I was very stringent on making sure that I only entered codes for one acct. per household.
FWIW, it's one account per household so from now on you should enter either you or your DH. It would be awful to win a contest and then have the win invalidated because you had 2 entries from the same householdThat is why I had to beg the other parents to at least make me an acct. for their household. Again, how hard is it to do so...must be really tough because very few did.
LOL...but then the OP couldn't take her ball and go homeNo one followed the rule Copy and Paste people, Copy and Paste![]()

There was a Boxtops for Ed. contest that I knew that we could win if we made a concerted effort. It took me a bit to get everyone to help me out, but we were notified this week that we won one of the 5K grand prizesI knew for about a month that we had won, but we just got the "official" word. I am really excited since my DD goes to a small school and we're always fundraising to meet our budget.
Since this is "found" money and I'm on the board of the school, I'm going to go to our monthly meeting tomorrow night with a proposal that we split the money 4 ways and give it to our 4 (vastly underpaid) teachers at our upcoming holiday program. This would mean the world to one of our teachers who is really struggling. Send me good vibes tomorrow night because I'm going to need them to get the rest of the board to say yes!! Anyways, I'm stoked about winning the $5000!
This board never changes. I had forgotten why I didn't post on here anymore. I can assure you that absoluely no rules were violated, that the win has been vetted, and that I regret ever sharing my good news here. Everything on here has to turn into a debate so I've deleted my posts and moved on. I'm sure that you all will find some other banal subject to debate in no time.
