Please cheer me up!

September will come soon!!!
And there's no feeling like having no credit card debt. Really...

What a great example you're setting for your kids. You're giving them something better than a vacation for their future... you're teaching them how to be financially responsible. These days that is a rare trait... :thumbsup2

Yeah for you!! You should be proud of yourself!!:thumbsup2

We are on our way to becoming debt free and was deciding today that once we are finally DEBT FREE!!!!! we will drive to Financial Peace University (half way to Disney:mickeyjum) to scream just that and than surprise the kids and drive the rest of the way to Disney- fully paid for- to thank them for hanging in there in our debt free journey. Let them know what it feels like to work hard and get the pay off!! :tinker:

:worship:

One good thing about waiting is that the new Fantasyland will be done. As everyone has said you will enjoy the trip you take so much more knowing you are not worried about money.

I too am a big Dave Ramsey fan. I always try to keep in mind one of his favorite sayings: "Live like no one else, so that later you can live like no one else."

Yes, some of the sacrifices are hard, and saying no to yourself just plain sucks. But someday when you can afford to buy DVC, the annual pass, and go to CA Grill with the whole family, because you made smart investment choices, the sacrifice will be worth it! :cool1:

Good for you!

We chose to go to Disneyland instead. Dh has to do business in Cali and we can tag along so it will be a super budget trip. We also had a trip to NYC this fall but have decided to be adults and pay off the rest of our debt.

Just keep thinking about how great you will feel when the debt is gone.

I hope you are having a great weekend now, after your tough not-at-WDW week. Enjoy the kids & do something special for them and yourself! Maybe make Mickey ice cream bars. A Mickey cookie cutter will make magic out of a slab of ice cream. Then just pop in a stick, freeze hard again, and dip in creamy chocolate. Yum!

We didn't cancel our vacation this year but I changed enough factors that it will be half the amount we normally spend. It's a great feeling to know I won't be racking up any debt to go have fun.

OP-You are soooooo smart and this will pay off for you for years and years!!! Go find something great and free to do to celebrate! Look in the mirror, give yourself a big smile and a thumbs up. Sometimes when I've sacrificed for the greater good, I put a little kudo note on my bathroom mirror as a reward for me. Post its are a great investment!!1

Honey you did the right thing. But because you canceled your trip doesn't mean you can't still have fun. What about going to an indoor waterpark for a day. You can still have some fun while paying off your debt. Go somewhere if a day or two and then you will feel better.

Disney World isn't going anywhere.....it will still be there when you have the funds.

We are skipping this summer for the exact same reason and taking a quick trip in October. I just keep reminding my self how much fun we will have in 6 months. It is hard but I know I will enjoy that trip knowing we are on our way to being debt free.:cool1:

You guys have all done a good job in cheering me up! Thank you so much! I guess the reason it's been so difficult to deal with is because I know soooo many people that are going there this week. If that weren't the case, it wouldn't be such a bummer. But you really have helped me feel better about it. Especially since MK is under construction right now. Last year when we were there for a couple days (just DH & I) there was a crane doing something at the castle. It didn't make for very nice pictures! :lmao: I was kind of shocked that it was there in the middle of the day and they were still having the photographers take pictures. They could have at least used their computer technology to erase the ugly crane from the picture! :upsidedow
