The crew: DH, me (both 42), DS (a week shy of his tenth B-day), my sister (36) my two nieces (8 and 5) and my 73 year old Mom!

Time: May 9 thru 14th

Sunday: We will arrive around 1:00 pm, after checking in we are going to DD and do some shopping, then back to the room and get ready to eat dinner at 'Ohanas at 7:00, walk out on the beach at the Poly and watch wishes.

Monday: Spend all day at Epcot (with a break at the hotel for a few hours in the afternoon), we have PS for Le Cellier for 4:45. Stay and watch Illuminations.

Tuesday: EMH at MGM, eat lunch at the sci-fi at 12:15, back to the hotel for a few hours break, back to MGM, stay to watch Fantasmic.

Wed: Sleep in a little, but be at Blizzard Beach at 10:00, around 1:00, go back to the hotel to rest. Be at MK at 4:30 to eat at the Crystal Palace and then do MK until 8:30. We are not staying for wishes.

Thurdsay: EMH at MK, back to the hotel around 11:30 until about 3:00, head back to MK to eat at LLT at 4:15, then do the park as long as the kids and Mom can.

Friday: EMH at AK, lunch at Rainforest cafe at 12:15, stay in the park until closing around 5:00. Go back to the hotel and let the kids play in the pool.

Saturday: Leave that morning for the long trip back home.

So do you think my plan is okay? And of course, if the kids or my Mom start to get tired we will take longer breaks.

This is just from my own personal experience. We went to AK last year and had lunch at Rainforest cafe. By about 2, the heat had totally done me in. By the time we got a bus and returned to WL, I had a horrible migraine from the heat. It took me 3 hours or so to begin to recover. The rest of the family was very wilted also. There are so few shady or cool spots in AK I found the hard way that we really need to schedule two half days at this park instead of one long one. But as I said, that is just my own experience. Plus I am from Maine, so not very good in the heat.
Your itinerary sounds really great though! Have a magical trip! :earsboy:

We like to park hop during the day. Say MK in the morning, then another park for late aft. and evening. We also like to not plan too much our last day so we can go to our favorite park/ride one last time.

You plan looks good, though! What resort are you staying at?

That sounds like a great plan to me, maybe I will try breaks in the day when I go back some day.

crystalrp, thanks so much for telling me that---I'm from WV and I can't take the heat either. I'm hoping we can get a lot done that morning at AK, perhaps if we do after lunch we may just do one or two more things and head back to the hotel early, and let the kids swim.

Harambe, we are staying at Pop Century. We might do some park hopping, but since I have already made most of my PSs, I'm not sure if we will be able to hop much.

So you think we (my crew) can handle this itinerary without too much fatigue and crankiness??? We only get to Disney about once every four years and I really want to do as much as I possible can in the five days we will have there. I swear, I'm SO excited and to think I have to wait for two more months until we are there!!!! :(

I think with you as the "tour guide" your crew will do fine! Your enthusiasm is catchy! And just know that if folks do get tired or cranky, you'll adjust your plan.

Have a wonderful time!

Hi Meganbear! I think your plan looks great. You've built in plenty of rest breaks (those are vital, if you ask me!) and allowed time for getting back and forth for PS's (another important part that many people forget).

I'm hoping we can get a lot done that morning at AK, perhaps if we do after lunch we may just do one or two more things and head back to the hotel early, and let the kids swim.

This is what always seems to happen to us on our AK days. But that's just fine; stay flexible and go with the flow that day. Hit your must-sees early on, then head out when everyone starts feeling the heat.

Thanks so much for all your help! I don't know how people plan their Disney trip without this board!!!! :)

Your itinerary looks great! Can I go with you???

Just one concern. I have an 8 and 5 year old and I would worry about a late dinner on your first night. My kids are used to eating no later than 6PM and are in bed by 8:30PM. When at WDW everything changes, but I'm not sure I'd want to push them the first night just for dinner. You could end up with cranky kids right off the bat. Ask their Mom what kind of schedule they normally have. If they are used to late dinners and varied bedtimes, they will be fine, but if they are like my kids you may want to rethink it.

Have a blast!

Your plan looks like sooooo much fun. I wish I could go in May!

I just have one concern. The EMH park tends to be the most crowded park by afternoon, so you may wish to consider switching your afternoons only at MK and MGM (spend Tues. evening in MK and Thurs. eve in MGM). It's probably not too late to switch your PSs, and since you plan on leaving the parks mid-day anyhow, it's no hardship to just hop to another park after your break. If you don't it's probably no big deal. I'm working my plan for August like this: EMH, break, different park (most likely "different park" would be one that had EMH the previous day).

Look forward to reading your trip report to find out how it goes.
