Please can someone help me?

I'm trying to fill text on Paint Pro 8. I followed the instuctions on the other thread, but it just doesn't seem to work. Can anybody tell me where I'm going wrong? This is what I did:~

Firstly I opened the picture that I wanted to fill the text with.

Then I put the text I wanted on top of the fill.

Then I made the text a vector layer, not a floating layer.

I then clicked on each letter with the magic wand and then went into selections and clicked on invert.

Lastly I clicked on my delete button, and this is what happened.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? If anyone can help that would be great!

I have Paint Shop Pro X and cannot seem to duplicate what you've done so far, but the only thing missing is the background to the name Try taking it one more step and use the fill tool (looks like paint bucket) with the desired background color.

your colors for the font are mixed up. There are 2 boxes on the right had screen that are background & foreground. You have the background color selected & you only want the foreground color selected, not the background color. So, switch the boxes to make the top box have color & the bottom box no color
