Please be kind in your responses

I'm honestly surprised there's not MORE snark to go around. I see so much patience and great answers on tons of threads, where the question could have been easily answered with a simple google search, or just scrolling down the page a little bit. I lurked on here for a long time before I signed up, I like to get a feel for a place before I feel comfortable adding my 2 cents.

These things always come back to what I tell my DH all the time "don't ask the question if you don't want the answer." I have to tell myself that all the time with DD3. The other day I really wanted ice cream, and I asked her if she wants to go get ice cream and she says no. :confused3

No kidding. So often I want to type, "what did Google say when you searched?"

But I started out on Urbanbaby and Gawker, so this seems like Romper Room.

:lmao:

I don't know either of those sites, but love the Romper Room comment - so fitting. I got warned once here for being Sarcastic and once for putting a letter followed by "---". This place is pretty tame ;)

Well...Considering the lack of sensitivity you are known for(;)).......................

I've never understood the point of these type of threads. People are going to do and act as they see fit regardless what you may think. All it really does is cast you in more of a negative light. :confused3

I disagree with you. I didn't see her in a negative light.

For the record, linking to "Let me Google that for you" will get you points...

I post on a Doctor Who forum which shall-not-be-named (like Voldemort). If you want true rudeness, try a sci-fi fan board sometimes. Talk about tearing you a new one. I have been flamed so many times over there I permanently smell like charcoal and wear asbestos undies. The Dis is nothing compared to that.

Are some people rude here? Sure, just like life only worse because you can't see intent or facial expression in the typed word.

I belong to a board for HR Professionals. This is a paid membership board. The most polite posts on that board are still worse then the rude posts on this board.

Imagine if the DIS still had the Debate board?

I can well imagine that this kind of behavior on here just solidifies the bad rep that Americans can have.

Be kind, be helpful and if you can't be, don't respond. ;)

You're kidding right??? Perhaps you should read the title of your post.

More importantly

This is so true. Sometimes I wonder if there is even mods on here. It seems like they are not very consistent in their weeding out the posts that break the rules.
It's also helpful, though, if people report posts that they feel are over the line. The mods can't be everywhere, and it's possible to miss things. If you read something that you feel breaks the rules, alert the mods to it. And if they DON'T remove it, you can certainly e-mail and ask them why.

You can also block posters who you find yourself consistently angered or annoyed by. Then you don't have to read their posts any more and your DIS time might be more friendly! :flower:
