PLEASE be careful with Dreams ears and pins trades

I think you are taking this a bit to personal dont you? I caution that your letting your emotions get into the way of the debate.

If you would like people to respect your point of view, you have to learn to respect theirs. Dont mean to preach but you are bordering breaking forum rules. I like you to much to see that happen ;)

I am sorry, I did not mean to disrespect. And yes I guess I am getting emotional about it. I have searched high and low and paid big time for some of the items I did not have and I just think because this host event was titled dreams people are expecting us to give free all of a sudden. I said I gifted a few of my ears and even to strangers. But that does not mean I will not save one or two to make trades with later, at this time I am not offering to trade them. Greed is greed and it has been here long before ears.
But again I am sorry I did not mean to be disrespectful.

I think one thing people left out in the debate is that its all to soon. As time goes by I dont think anyone will care one way or the other. Right now so many have dream month fresh in their mind and also many worked so hard just to try and get a friend a set of ears while they watched others collect 20 of them. the older things you mentioned are collectors items now, they are from days of old. These things were so plentiful like any other host item. I mean host pins usually go for like 3000 credits @_@

To DisneyDreams: How would you know what the exact offer was anyway? Perhaps it was not for everything you thought; perhaps person doesn't even like the item of whatever the offer was, perhaps the person already had what was being offered, perhaps whoever made the offer changed the offer last minute...
Well, since you posed your comment very specifically towards me, I wanted to reply. As I said in the first post, I know because he told me and others in the room, along with his "i" button:
earstrade.jpg

yes, the shoe is just on the other foot now...
I have had the "park advantage" as well. Never ever said everyone had to agree with me. I just hate to see kids give away everything because they think it's the only way. I dont think it's a secret to anyone here that I trade my way to all sorts of things. Dreams ears just seem different to me.

I am poor, and home.less
Yeah, but you have a sense of humor... girls like that. ;)

If explorer comes out this year the person getting it for the dream ears is going to be sorry lol.

They forgot it is halloween anything can happen.

Don't worry Aengus, her bark is much worse than her bite. Now take a chill pill sister before you get the boot. :rotfl2:

lol I have yet to get a host pin offered to me for 3000 credits where are you trading at lol. and just so people don't think I have tons of ears I got five pair and two I have given away. But my search was not for the ears I wanted the tent and the cactus and the lightcycle and the tiki all items I did not have. It was not my fault in my search for these items I was given ears. lol I just wanted people to know I did not have tons of ears and why I continued my search during the month.

I have some Club 33 and Water Parks Typhoon Lagoon pins I will take 3000 each for. ;)

Since free items should be "gifted" to other players on a regular basis I'm looking for a sparrow costume. After all, I put in just as many thousands of codes as those who won them. :rotfl2:

Please know I'm not being serious, just adding a bit of levity here. I can empathize with the newer players here. I've been here over a year so I don't know how new that is but since I can't be on here all the time I miss a lot of stuff from time to time...and I never ever, have anything to trade for a minnie hat without someone sticking their nose up at me and not giving the time of day. I have to agree that spending all day and night waiting for host to show up for dreams seems like just as much work, maybe even more than a quest or host event.

I'm sorry, and this is only my opinion, but five pair is a lot of ears. I truly wish the hosts would have checked and only given each person one pair. And, made sure that everyone got a pair, or at least made sure the kids got them.

And yes, I know that a lot of my sadness in this mess comes from the fact that I have kids who are on VMK. If it wasn't for me getting on as my DD aftr her bed time, she never would have gotten the one pair she had. But that doesnt help all the other little kids who never got them. :guilty:

I am aware of the kids and the two pair I have gifted already went to kids. I did not say I agreed with the way dreams month went either. They should have given all the prizes at one time to the people that found them and then you could not recieve anymore. But since they had numerous items to give and you did not know what you would recieve until you got it, then I had no control over that. Hosts tried their best in the situation they were given.

Gosh. I was going to stay out of this debate, but I really wish to make at least one point. Dreams ears are in no way comparable to other host items. Players had absolutely no control over winning ears or remaining earless, as we do in the other host events. Some players spent just as much time on vmk as anybody else, still without ears. That is why people asking for rare gets me a little peeved.

Some other things mentioned here about older players having more rare than newer players. Of course we do! BUT...we did NOT start out having more than any other player. We all started with the same 200 credits as everyone else did. Accumulating rare or beta came with lots of luck and heavy trades. I never owned a red tent or sea green cactus. Still don't. The pink tiki I had at one time was traded for. HEAVILY. I gave it away to a good friend. Now I have that back, thanks to being in the right place at the right time for dreams month. I've been playing vmk since early June, 2005. Does it make me greedy to expect getting more than I paid for some rarer items? I don't think so. It's totally different from the ears trades, imo.

I see nothing wrong with trades on dreams ears. I think asking for something rare is a bit over the top. All that means for me is that the extra ears I have will go to someone who can't afford to offer rare or to a friend, and they will go free.

Prices of:

Minnie Hats 1000
Green Explorer 1500

I am willing to give 4 times the amounts you paid for these items if someone that is'nt greedy or selfish wants to step up. Or you could just give them to me for free!

Now if you want to say that the said items are worth more, why?.... because you say it is. Or because they have been traded enough to see what they go for. Same goes with Dream items, it is a supply and demand issue. If you don't like what you have to offer someone move on, its just a few pixels on a screen anyways, you don't have to have it.

I have been trying to get a Hyena pin for 6 months now, and nobody is giving them up very cheap. But you got those for free, so what is the difference? And what about the Mighty Eye pin? that was a pin you got from trading with the host, gift them all around to everyone that does that have one.

When I first started on this site I could not believe some of the prices of these items you people were asking. 30,000 credits for something you paid 1000 for, wow.... thats not greedy is it?

If you want to see greed and selfishness, go to the host pin trading event today or one later this month. I will almost bet 8 out of the 10 people you see in line will have all the pins the host is trading on them, sometimes more. How are us newer people suppose to get these items when you old timers are hoarder everything up?

I have not listed dreams ears for trade in fact I have gifted 2 sets so far to my friends along with a dreams poster, and a code for a explorers tent. But I have no problem with somebody offering their dreams items up for trade and wanting something they don't have. If you don't like what they are wanting, move along until you find someone that wants what you are willing to offer. Or just do without, like I have on alot of items.

I agree and I think that was well said. I have stated my view on it and I really do not want to debate.

However, I do want to comment on some other things that have been said here without quoting people directly. I have said on this board and in VMK many times I would love Princess Minnie or a Haunted Mansion room and in response I have been asked for a minimum of 50K credits plus almost everything in my inventory, usually 100K credits plus rare clothing and have been told that anything less than 150K credits for Princess Minnie would be unfair for me to even ask....SO - please remind me who is greedy again, because I forgot.

(run-on sentence ;)) I respect that everybody holds a different opinion and that is okay. It is the sense of entitlement rolled into it that makes it, well, not right. ;) I am finding that those who have these rare items such as Minnie, Inferno, Explorer, Stitch, etc want it very difficult for others to obtain or state repeatedly that is should not be re-released and many times, these are the same people who are on here making it a point to let everybody know who they gifted and barking the loudest about how others should trade, play the game and post. Remind me again who is greedy, because I really do keep forgetting. :)

This is a game we play for FREE and obtain items for FREE unless we purchase pirate Q items. ;) Why does it have to be a debate about how people trade and what they can trade them for?

I don't spend as much time on the PC as most of you here do, but I did during dreams month. For my time, or anybody else's, we should be able to trade what we feel is fair for our time and item. I have not tried to trade dream ears, but if I want to, that is only between me and the person who is begging them off my head. If I want to gift them, I can do that too, but I will do it privately. When I gift, I never post it on here, I do it as a PM. Well, I did one time and ended up needing to PM to ensure he saw it anyway. ;)

I stand firm on my opinion and I feel that everybody else should as well.

It isn't about winning or losing, but how you play the game can be applied here as well. ;) Just enjoy the game while it is available to us and play it for whatever way works best for you. :hippie:

The nice thing about debates is you get to see the real person behind the virtual pixiels. I still think it is not right and nor do I have everything either.
But I do see the people I would never gift anything too because their greed and selfishness is shinning through so well. Others I would help in a heart beat. The thing I love about disney is the magic it creates. So helping to create magic for others is worth more than an inferno to me. Which I have never owned.

I just don't understand how dream ears are not comparable to other host items. The dreams team was out at times when there would have been a host event. (dreams team was a host event) I agree with the dreams ears were not controlled, we did not know when we would win ears versus another prize or if we would win at all. But the same is true for other host events, you don't know if you win or not, example play a host game one person wins others lose, find the correct teleporter if you lose you try again. Same for the dreams items, if you didn't find the right room you move on or if you didn't get the right prize try again. I just do not see the difference everyone keeps making to this point.
When I started this game I was given 200 credits, so we all started the same.
But according to numerous other people an item is considered rare if it can not be bought in the store, there are not many out there or not many people have them, there is a high demand for the item. Under those guidelines then this makes dreams items rare.
I don't see the difference in an old rare item and a new rare item. If the two parties are willing to trade then good for them they each get what they want. I guess my point in all this is just because the item is new and rare the person that wants to trade and get something they don't have is there choice, and if anyone is not willing to make the trade that is an individual decision. But to make blanket statements to not trade with people for their dream items because they should be given free since the person got them free is a little crazy, hence my earlier posts about other free host items. I was trying to make a comparison.

is this the people posting the dreams for minnie threads, or the people saying they were not gifting their ears.
if it is the latter, I dont think you need go so far as to call them greedy

Don't get me started about the hypocrisy I see on the Trading boards.
I agree with everything you said, for the same reasons, Mims. I had typed
a bunch of stuff here that I had to erase because I know it would anger
some of the people who have posted to this topic.

Well, this DISer is true to her word. My dream ears have been given to friends who TRIED all month to get some, but couldn't. Even the extra pair that one of my players received is being given. I'm keeping only one pair for myself. That's it...this player sees no reason to be greedy!

First of all, I never owned mass quantities of Princess hats, I only own 1. I bought 5 when they were available and gifted two, that I can recall clearly. I think you'll find that to be the case with many players, we simply couldn't afford to buy them back then.
I have only one Haunted Mansion room. It was a gift from a friend. If not for my friend, I would not have a HM room. Period. It's long retired and was a tour prize from the park. Not so easy for a Wisconsin girl to come by. Not so easy for SoCal players, either, as you could only take the tour once every 90 days, at that time.
You are talking about items that are almost IMPOSSIBLE to come by and should take a lot to acquire, if you ever locate them. Very different from something easily obtainable.
Guess you may be right after all. We will just have to agree to disagree. I'm comfortable with my position and stand by it. The distribution of the Dreams prizes was not fair to all players and I will continue to gift my spare items until I have only one hat, one fairy pin and one logo pin. Feel free to ask anyone who knows me in the game. I am an awful trader. :)
