Please allow me to introduce my students....

Okay Dave, I'm asking questions--

1) Tell me your top 3 things I must experience
2) When you are at Disney, do you feel like the staff tries to take care of everyone or focus more on children?
3) Any advice for a WDW virgin?

My favorite place to eat in Epcot is Le Cellier (I know, but I love the pretzel bread sticks & soup.)

My favorite place to stay is Wilderness Lodge (non DVC) and Boardwalk if I am coming DVC. I don't like BLT (:confused3 :scared1:) there, I said it in public

Top 3 things to experince:goodvibes
I love Kali River Rapids, Toy Story Mania, Lion King Show.
But most of all I love walking down Main Street on the first day of every trip.

I am 61 years young and have traveled with/without kidlets. I have never felt the CM's paid more attention to me than the children. I think they take their cue from you and what you are looking for. I think the CM's are nice to everyone (except the ones that missed their pixie dust class, and those are few and far between).:cloud9:

& Lastly to the WDW Virgin. Take the time to smell the roses. If you run through the parks trying to do everything you will miss much. Don't over schedule yourself or your family. Take time to watch the delight in a child's face when they see a character for the first time. watch the families giggle with delight when a talking trash can follows them around the park. Look at the faces of the children and adults during the parades. I know I have cried a tear or two of joy at the parks. Find that joy and then share it. take pictures, but don't let the camera get in your way. A made a picture album for my 5 year old nieces, who go down every year, when they were 4. Yesterday my niece went and found the album and asked her mom to go through it with her and they talked about all the things that they did and the things they are going to do when they go down this summer. Capture the memories, and may all of your memories be good ones. Have fun in your class. wish they had a class like this when I was in college. I am retiring soon and would love to teach a class like this. :lmao: Penny

ps - if you want personalized anything, check out the Creative DISign forum. They do t-shirt DISigns, autograph cards, journals, Epcot country books, and on & on & on the list goes. P:cloud9:

I can't figure out how to do the quote thing.... but TXYankee:

My mom has actually been going through old pictures of me at certain places at disney and me with different characters because she wants me to compare me at age 5 to now, and look at the differences at the park as well.

To quote another post: at the bottom right of the post you'd like to quote, click the "quote" button and the system will add it into your post (like it did with yours in this post of mine).

If you want to quote more then one person, click on the box with the " in it next to the Quote box.

My sister and I did that last year before we went to WDW. When my sister and I got to the Magic Kingdom we took a photo in front of the Castle in the same pose we were in the very first time went in 1971. It is amazing how much in the parks has changed and how much has stayed the same!

Hello everyone. My name is Sierra and I am also in Dave's class. I've been to WDW twice am very excited to go on this special trip. I am also excited about being part of this community. I've never done any sort of blogging or forum type thing before, and I was amazed to see that, less than 24 hours after our first class, that there have been so many people welcoming us and being so friendly! I'm looking foreward to getting to know you all:wave2:

Hi and welcome to all of the students! I'm still astonished that you're getting credit for this, that's awesome! What kind of credit is it? What are the course requirements? When do you all make the trip? Sorry for all the questions; I teach Theatre and French and I'm thinking, hmmmm, how can I work this into taking my students to Disney? ;) Anyway, have fun and yes, everyone is really nice on the disboards and very, very knowledgable! So welcome, again and do your homework! :teacher:

Welcome to the DISboards, students! :welcome: I'm Dave's wife, Leah. I'm sure you will meet me in the near future - I'm planning to come to a couple of class sessions if we can find a babysitter!

The boards are a great place for information - just post and ask someone if you have any questions about how they work!

Hope you all enjoy the class!

On a more serious note here's a lesson for you (assuming Dave doesn't mind)
Google teaching wdw class and see what shows up in the first couple of hits. Remember this thread was only started a few days ago

It's definitely a one-of-a-kind class! I'm definitely glad that I picked Western Illinois University!

Okay Dave, I'm asking questions--

1) Tell me your top 3 things I must experience
1: Soarin
2: Character interaction
3: All the firework shows

2) When you are at Disney, do you feel like the staff tries to take care of everyone or focus more on children?
I feel like the castmembers try to take care of everybody, 3 years old, 13 years old 30 years old 60 years old it doesn't make a difference.
I do believe that children interact back more with the castmembers then adults do.
If you just let the interacting be there and if you also participate along then it's for all ages.

3) Any advice for a WDW virgin?
Research research research.
Did i mentioned research??
Go on the boards, read about WDW.
A visit to WDW needs to be planned, there is so much to see and do that you can't do it all in once. And without any preparation your vacation won't be the same magical vacation as it could be with preparation done.

Hi Sierra, (Thats a great name)

Welcome to the Dis!

Yea but what does it mean?
if you look at how many hits each word gets
wdw- 1,600,00
teaching- 190,000,000
class -746,000,000

The combination- 112,000

So out of 112,000 we sites on the internet that have the phrase "wdw teaching class" we are number in the number 2 position in google on a thread that's only been on the internet for a few days. Why did it jump ahead of the other 111,998 sites that have the SAME keywords?

Alex or Anyone who knows,

I am not in Dave's class but I am a student of life.
But the Dis in a great place to ask a question! ( an not much of a Tech person)
How do I find out how many hits a word or combination of words gets?
Why does Bing differ so much from google?

Thanks!
Theresa

...because Google is awesome?

It probably has to do with with both how recent this thread is, how active it has been, how active this site is, and various other factors other than site hits.

Hello, since im kind of a Dinsey World virgin..only been their once and it was only for like half a day...what attractions/rides would you suggest I must visit.

Be careful with your advice: he's a gummy bear - nothing with too much heat (i.e. Fantasmic).

Well if you drink your gummi berry juice and wanna bounce, then Winnie the Pooh has a nice bouncy section as well as the 'bouncing' in the Tower of Terror.
