I think I'm going to be sick. I have a Nikon D3000. Not high end but not cheap either. It took a terrible tumble. The preview screen has a small crack and the auto focus isn't working. Manual focus works fine. I know it's not a lens issue cause it happens on all the lenses. It wants to focus, I can hear the motor and see the lens moving but when it's time to release the shutter it wont release. I checked the setting and it's on the correct setting.
My question is.... Should I take this opportunity to upgrade or is it worth it to have it fixed.
I'm not near the photographer that you guys are:goodvibes but I do enjoy it as a serious hobby.

Eventually, this will be a judgment call by you. The first thing is to have the camera evaluated for a repair by a competent repair facility. Your camera was introduced/announced July, 2009, which means you are looking at 3 year old technology. The repair cost will determine your next step and where you personally want to go with your photography. If you are satisfied with your camera and don't want to upgrade, then its just a matter of the numbers. Is the repair equal to or less than an entry level replacement. If you were already looking to upgrade then this is an opportunity. As I stated, this will have to be your call.
