Pleasantly surprised after last trip OKW

I must say, all in all it was a good trip. We decided to leave early (I know, how could we burn those points) but I have a college kid home alone, with the flu. Apparently they have so many with it that thet may close down and we live close enough they sent her home. Flu shots are not helping this strain either.

Anyway, as we were packing to leave, it was pouring! So dh pulled the car by the sidewalk so we could run out and put our thingsa in without getting too wet. While he was standing there, getting ready to move the car, a housekeeper came, parked her cart, walked around the car with her vacuum, looked at dh and got on her radio to tell them a car was blocking the sidewalk. Duh.....He just looked at her and we got in the car and left.

As we were checking out, I asked about the internet and John, the operations manager (he told me that, I did not ask), said that they are not offering free internet yet and they did not know when it would start. I said, "humm, funny, some people on the DIS boards said theirs was taken off at checkout." He promptly told me, " That's not an official Disney site so what is on there is not true. I should know, I am the operations manager". I said, "Well, operations manager, perhaps the other CM's should know because some are getting it for nothing now." He said he'd have to look into it. Frustrating.

We did really have a great time, just relaxing. We left around 1pm and got home at almost 3am, driving straight through. Would have gotten home 10 minutes earlier had that nice Virginia State Patrolman not pulled me over and gave me that ticket though! Out of all the cars on I-95, he picked me! I guess I should feel honored:guilty:

Thanks for the thread. We are working out details for a possible land (DVC for 4 or 5 days) and sea (3 day Bahama Disney cruise). Our resort thoughts are down to three; BCV, BWV or OKW. I have put another thread out looking for comments on OKW. Everyone that has responded so far loves OKW. Your thread was the first to suggest that you had a bad experience with OKW. However, this visit sounds like a successful return.

I hate to ask someone to rehash their bad expeince, however, it would be helpful to us.

Thank you.

I had DVC'd twice (SSR and OKW) in 2008 and both times inquired about the internet. I received the same answer both times - free internet starts later this year (no specific date). The first stay started Jan 1 when there was A LOT of confusion. I inquired about getting the internet charged removed and it didn't happen.
From reading the boards, I believe that most people have had to pay and only a few (very early on) were able to have the charges removed

Is the internet in the room wireless? How much have they been charging?

All Disney resorts charge $9.95 a day for high speed internet access. It is NOT wireless and that charge is for a consecutive 24 hours, so buying it everyother day usually suffices for most. My DH has an aircard, so we don't bother with Disney's internet anyway.

Because Disney CMs never, ever get anything wrong :lmao: I hope your child is feeling better!!

Debbie H. I'm glad you had a good trip. We are going in August with about 14 people, I hope everything works out for us also. It will be our first time in a GV.

After the BWV, OKW is our favorite.

Someone asked about our bad visit. It was mainly waiting a long time, with a sick husband, and then having the room dirty. I don't want to really get into it because it was really involved and it got very messy on here. So, that said, we have been members at OKW since 92. Almost all of our stays have been delightful. We do see a decline in some areas but this stay was great. I think that if any of you stay there, you will have a good stay. The rooms are large and their is room for everyone and have your space. By the way, besides staying one night in WL and one night in BW, we have always stayed at OKW.

My daughter is much better thank you. She is in her last semester in colllege and practically the entire school has Type A flu, which is really nasty. Just remember everyone WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY!!!!
