Hi all,
Our last trip here was a disaster and we decided to wait a while before coming back. Well, things have improved, DRAMATICALLY!
Arrived on Wednesday, niece arrived first and checked us in and had a room available at 12:30 with a garden view in building 39 or we could wait for a different view. Told the niece to take the one available but to check the room for cleanliness when she got there. We arrived around 3:30 and went to the front desk to put a credit card on the room, after being told "Welcome Home" at security and found everyone very pleasant. Went to our villa and everything was clean and in order.

Outside was nice and clean as well as the pool areas. DH and DN went to the races today and are headed over to the 500 tomorrow while I will have to stay here and try to find something to do out at the pool in the 85 degree weather!:goodvibes

Just thought with all the negatives posted lately, including by me, that you would like to know things are improving......Had meatloaf tonight at Olivia's and it was excellent. Service fast and was good.

Pleased this stay is better for you as a remember your past problems!
I love OKW although we have yet to stay there, it is such a beautiful tranquil resort :goodvibes

Glad to hear that things are as they should be this time around. Enjoy your trip!

So far everything is great! DH and DN is over at the 500. We had a full cleaning yesterday. I find it amusing though that they do a full cleaning on the 4th day and trash and towel (Iremember when it was trash & tidy) on the 8th day. It really seems like it should be the other way around.

The weather today is perfect. Warm and sunny with a little breeze. The thought of going back north is unthinkable at this point. We are close to Turtle Pond pool and I went there today. It was busy but it sounded like some were there waiting to leave the resort to go home.

I also took a walk around 11:30. I know there has been many threads about the 11:00 check out. I counted 9 people packing cars and bell services picked someone up at 11:45. I walked for 45 minutes. I think the problem may not be so much housekeeping but more so a guest problem.

Also, I heard of a hotel (I do not know where it was) giving an incentive to their housekeepers (cash) if they report guests who are smoking in the rooms. I think that is a wonderful thing to do. The room we are in has a cigarette burn on the sink.

Well, sorry you all can't be here with us but know that it is here and everything seems fine! (lol)

Debbie,
We left Sat from bldg 35 - we encountered K-9 security as we were leaving and were told the area was being swept because a special guest was arriving at OKW...have you heard of anyone special staying there?

We are in Building 39. My husband is trying to say that he is the special guest but I have to remind him we were here before the K9 sweep! :)

I haven't heard anything yet but I will keep my ears opened.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that your OKW stay is a good experience. DW and I love OKW and Olivia's.

It's so nice to read "good" reports! Thanks for letting us know! :goodvibes

Another great dinner at Olivia's. DH went there for lunch and he said he had a good meal as well. Went to the outlets. The Dixie Stampede is no more. Couldn't imagine what it was to begin with. They are also adding on to them that should be open in the Spring however to do that they have a lot of building to do. They have a multi level garage for parking too.

Tuesday after my niece leaves we are going to go to EPCOT and France for dinner. We were going to head over to Japan for dinner the other night but to get DN a ticket would have been $70 just to get her in for dinner. Forget that! We went to Bahama Breeze instead.

It rained a little today but it was warm. It is suppose to cool off tomorrow but this is still better than at home!

thanks for the report.....

I cant wait to go to OKW in april:goodvibes

BTW....I requested near HH...is it possible to get a quiet location near
the HH.
thanks
Kerri

Building 39 was one of the buildings being rehabed last May when we were there. I believe it also used to be a smoking building, so that might account for the burn mark too. I hope you are right about the housekeepers getting incentives for reporting smokers!!! That is the way it SHOULD work. Well, except that they should do it without incentive. It's part of their job.

I guess it's necessary to hear and talk about the negatives to initiate change and awareness but it sure is nice to hear when things go well. Glad you had a nice trip at OKW. I hope I can report the same in June!

You're probably right about it being a previous smoking building. As far as the housekeepers, as I wrote, I just saw it on the news...I do not know where it is.

Yes, there are some quiet locations.

Nice to hear abt someone giving a resort a 2nd chance and coming back to report a positive!

We are looking forward to our stay in June! Do you know which bldg (s) are considered in the HH category by any chance? We have a 2 bdr and 2 studios booked, hoping to be in the same building:) Wait, maybe not the SAME bldg...its family! lol

We will be arriving at OKW this Sunday (Our first time). Any tips on the best locations (quiet w/ view), and Olivia's reviews etc...

Anything you can let me know about - I am really excited. This will be our third DVC resort to stay at (SSR, BWV) and loved each of those for different reasons.

We are looking forward to enjoying the tranquility of OKW (SSR is like that too!). I get my fun, excitement and noise all day at the parks, I want to relax in the evenings.

After sitting through 20 degree weather the last few weeks here in NY, I can't wait to feel the sun and 70-80 degree weather!!!!

Thanks
E
