Hi,

I have an ADR at The Plaza because of its relative low cost and the fact that I have 2 12 years old and a 13 year old. 5 Disney adults at a buffet = $300 for dinner before tax. We went once in 2008 and it was fine, have you been more recently? What did you think? Should I keep looking or maybe just go QS for dinner that night? I want to eat in MK for dinner that night.

We visit The Plaza every time we go (DD 11 & DS 6)..It's become a must do for sure and is reasonably priced..IMO compared to other TS esp the buffets as you mentioned. They have great ice cream too for dessert afterward.

Love the Plaza! DH and I just had lunch there mid November and it was great. To me, it's one of the best places to eat at MK....a very standard menu, priced well and something for everyone......and as above poster mentioned....great ice cream for dessert too! It's always been one of my favorites.....from WAY back .....

We ate there for the first time in September and I'm not sure why we spent 40 years avoiding it. The food and service were both excellent and with tip we spent about $5 more than we did the day prior at BOG for lunch.

I have to say that we enjoyed The Plaza also. We went in April 2015 and the food was good, prices reasonable, and it was nice to sit back in the air conditioning with a reserved table. I highly recommend it as a great option for dining in the Magic Kingdom.

We like the Plaza well enough. We've been going there from time to time for years and nothing really seems to change. Our last visit was in November. Food is basic but decent.

The Plaza is our new MK dinner place. So much nicer than any counter service and really not that much more expensive. We skipped it for many years but have gone the last five trips.

We love the plaza and have lunch there on every trip. You can check out specifics in my reviews in the signature, because we ate there each and every trip ; )

I sure will check out your reviews! Signatures don't show up on my phone so I will read tomorrow! Thanks again

Plaza is my favorite MK Sit down (haven't been to BOG Dinner). It is only a dollar or two more on entrees than CS with views of the Castle and statue if you sit near a Window. Best OOP Sit down value in all WDW due to the quality of Sandwiches. I have my ADR already for the May trip.

Our Ratings of Plaza Restuarant: (*rev 5/22/2015*)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a
.
Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... n/a
. . . entree:.. Grilled Reuben, Meatloaf Meal
. . . dessert:. Original Banana Split
.
NOTE: The eatery is mainly a salad and sandwich shop, and most consider it not a real
sit-down restaurant. As a sandwich shop, it is well above average with consistent quality.
As a sit-down eatery, it is far below average. Don't know why is it a TS category eatery?
Our best guess is that WDW wanted another eatery to burn TS coupons from guest's DDP
and chose this one.

We just ate there in late Sept before the Halloween party. Great food and great service. Very enjoyable with no frills.

My daughter and I ate there a few weeks ago before the Christmas Party. She had the meatloaf meal and I had the reuben with fries. Both were excellent and portions are huge! It's on my list for March :D

Rusty, no offense, but I've never seen you give a positive review to a restaurant. What ones do you actually like?
The only sit-down restaurants we routinely visit,
. . . Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Villas Resort (one of my personal favs)
. . . Artist Point - Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . Citricos - Grand Floridian Resort
. . . Shula's Steakhouse - Dolphin Resort (no DDP)
. . . Il Mulino - Swan Resort (no DDP)
Our (nearby) off-site Recommendations:
. . . Bull & Bear - Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek - Fine Dining
. . . Café D'Antonio - Celebration - Casual Italian
. . . Columbia - Celebration - Casual Spanish/Cuban
. . . Fish Bones - Hwy192 - Seafood
. . . Venetian Room - Caribe Royale Hotel - Fine Dining
. . . The Hotel Tea Room - Davenport, FL - Casual - Friday Steak-Fry, Afternoon Tea

I was about to say the same thing!! It's every single review. Good grief lighten up...

I understand your position(s), and apologize for any of my insensitivity.
1) Ratings/Reviews are based upon several factors.
. . . one factor would not make an eatery a "must do"
. . . likewise, one factor would not make an eatery an "avoid at all costs"
2) Just because an item gets a "C", it does not mean it is bad.
. . . the category is still average, but reasonable
. . . the category is still average, but acceptable
. . . the category is still average, but not great
3) There are only few eateries that can be rated an "A".
. . . an "A" is superior, and an individual must determine how many "A" and "B" ratings make the eatery Great for them
. . . for a Quality "A" rating, can anyone say that a sandwich at Plaza is superior when compared to a steak at V&A?
. . . other examples: meatloaf/fries/banana-split . . . can these really be classified as Great (anywhere)? . . . good, maybe, but great?
4) I rate Disney like I rate any other eatery.
. . . Disney does have good eateries, does have mediocre eateries, and does have poor eateries
. . . Disney does not get extra credit at any eatery for being Disney
. . . Disney does not get a break because it is a vacation destination, although some people over-rate eateries due to Disney enthusiasm
. . . Disney is rated as any other eatery
. . . without a true rating, would anyone put Le Cellier steak over a Morton's Steakhouse or Ruth's Chris meal?
. . . for instance, I would go off-site for a "B" versus eating at a Disney "D"
. . . would it be justified to give acclaim to The Plaza, and select it over Grand Floridian Café or The Wave on the basis of that review?
. . . would you pass up The Wave because someone rated McDonald's as Great (due to the McRib)?
5) As a Concierge at WDW who must make recommendations to guests, I would certainly not steer them to an average or poor eatery without qualifiers.
.
NOTE1: I take food-quality-service very seriously, and do not just hand out Kudos because it is Disney. We have major interests in two eateries, a breakfast-lunch-only "Blue Plate Special" diner, and a fine-dining dinner-only restaurant. Our diner would only rate a "C" under my system. It makes good money and gets lots of patrons, but it is average and certainly not Great. Our fine dining would get a "B". It is good, but not a 4-Diamond restaurant. If you had not been to either, how could you determine which one to patronize, if the ratings were not comparable? Same for WDW eateries. My system (hopefully) gives you a quickie look at pricing and then the major characteristics of the meal experience. From these, one should be able to make an informed decision.
.
NOTE2: I ran multi-national manufacturing companies prior to retirement. In hiring/recruiting, we gave extra points and extra credit to Veterans when compared to other candidates. I don't believe we should do the same for Disney restaurants, just because they are Disney.

I really like the Plaza. It isn't anything fancy but definitely a good value by Disney standards.
