Thinking of doing Plaza restaurant, but have never really heard much about it. Do you like it? Is it just a glorified burger/sandwich place? Is it worth the price? Pros and Cons please.

We like it very much for lunch. It's one of the most cost-effective TS restaurants at WDW if you're paying oop. They have great milkshakes and ice cream sundaes!

I don't know what you mean by a glorified sandwich place, but I love the Plaza. The menu is primarily sandwiches and salads, but they are way above the sandwiches you would get at a CS meal. Plus they have delicious ice cream sundaes for dessert. I was at Disney two weeks in September and had lunch at the Plaza three times. The menu is the same all day and they do not close between lunch and dinner.

The only con I can think of is that some of the tables are a little too close together, especially in the solarium section. If you get noisy or restless neighbors, it can detract from the meal. I still like the solarium though, especially if I get a window seat facing the castle. You can't beat the view!

I wouldnt call it glorified at all! They have sammies, burgers and salads. They also have great ice cream treats. It has always been fairly quiet when I dined there. I never waited for a table, and there is A/C. These things can add up to a very nice break from the insanity that can be the MK (IMO) :goodvibes

Hope you don't mind me asking on your thread ... Can you substitute fries for the meals that come with the german potato salad? How is the potato salad - is it the warm kind?

Thanks

yes you can sub the fries for potato salad. It is German and I don't think it was served warm.

I love the Plaza Restaurant and we eat lunch there every MK day on our trips! It's so relaxing compared to a CS place, and not that much more expensive. The club sandwich is great, as is the tuna (I get it on the whole grain bread instead of the croissant).

The German Potato Salad is Wonderful. (But it is served cold and not warm.)

We love the Plaza!
The milkshakes are the best. The burgers are great! I had a great strawberry salad there. The dressing was fabulous! :thumbsup2 It's a reasonably-priced (for WDW), sit-down lunch or dinner. My kids were very disappointed that we were not eating there on our next trip. Since we are not paying oop, but using the dining plan-I opted for a pricier TS. The only con that I can think of is that it is relatively small, so the tables are close together and it doesn't seat many people compared to other restaurants.

The Plaza is one of the restaurants that we eat in every trip to WDW. It speaks 'Disney' to me. It has that Main Street feeling and the food it good.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It is yummy and very pretty inside. We didn't think the wait staff and especially the hostesses were very competent during our last visit, but it was far from disasterous. The german potato salad wasn't offered, but homeade chips or broccoli slaw as alternatives to fries. Great desserts!

I really liked the food at the Plaza and the prices were reasonable...okay, for WDW. BUT....the service is not so good. SLOW, and surly. Every person we encountered there had a sour expression and no one seemed to care that we were there to receive a SERVICE. So, take it for what it is but hopefully you're not in too big of a rush or care if you get super friendly service.

I think the Plaza is great when you want to get out of the heat and want to be served. It's nothing special, you're right, burgers, sandwiches, etc. But they are better than what you get CS and it's not priced all that much more.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Plaza on our last trip. Both food and service were very good. It's a great place for a nice, relaxing in-park lunch. I'd definitely recommend it.

We love the Plaza! It's a must do for us! Great cheese steaks and sundaes.

I find that after eating in restaurants for a few days I start to crave a "normal" meal. That's when I appreicate the Plaza. The food is good, simple food.

We ate there last week, and will not be returning. Arrived and checked in 10 minutes before our ADR time, and were still waiting outside in last week's blazing heat (with a toddler and 2 month-old infant in tow, mind you) 40 minutes later; finally rec'd a table after approaching the podium twice to inquire about the hold-up. DH spoke with the manager on duty, who told him that we at least should have been told up front that it may take longer to seat our party (7 people), promised she would go look into it.... and then disappeared into Neverland, never to be heard from again. Tables were pretty crammed in. As for the food...meh, I've had worse sandwiches, but I've certainly had better too.

The potato salad there is banging!
