I read on chowhound.com that the Fried Chicken dinner at the Plaza Inn is really good. Anyone eaten it recently and care to comment?

It has been last September since we have eaten there but it has always been my DH's and DS's favorite place to eat in the park.

it is good...also their pot roast is good too yum! when I go I always have to do eeny meenie miny moe for fried chicken or pot roast:rotfl:

I had it just a few days ago and it was as good as always. Mighty tasty!

i always get the fried chicken at least once during our trips.

i do have to say though, last week, it was over cooked. i almost thought about going and asking for new pieces. still edible, but not up to par with what i am used to getting.

We love the fried chicken! It comes with 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, yellow/green beans and a biscuit. You can ask for extra chicken or biscuits and pay a charge and then share, cheaper than getting 2 full meals. I haven't tried the pot roast, but I will the next time we're there.

I don't eat fried chicken but my family ordered some and they said it was just okay.
I tried the mashed potatoes that came with it and was surprised to learn that they were instant! Yuck!
This was really unexpected and I thought it was really unusual but nothing I had ever read had mentioned this fact so I guess most people don't mind.
The vegetables were green beans and carrots and they were overcooked.
The biscuit was good!
We had heard such great things about the plaza inn but we were really unimpressed.

We are a family of 4 with 2 small kids and are in the parks every 2 weeks or so. Needless to say, the Plaza is one of our favorite options for dinner or early Sunday lunch.

We always feel satisfied when we order the chicken dinner and a kid's chicken - for under $20 with our annual pass. If we are particularly hungry, we indulge in adding the Cobb Salad to our order. They make them up fresh in front of you and they are very tasty.

The fried chicken is so yummy! I always grab the little containers of honey to go along w/ it.

Yum, honey, :flower3: I don't like bee's, however I do love their honey! :)

i looooooooooove the fried chicken!! its probably my favorite thing to eat at DL. its a MUST every trip for us:goodvibes

We love the Plaza Inn chicken dinner. We get that and one other entree, plus a couple of their side salads and we have enough for our family of four (including my teenage son who eats like there is no tomorrow). We have eaten there most every trip for years and never had a bad meal. They always give us a couple of extra plates to divide up the food.

I also like the French Market, but don't think their chicken is quite as good. Their meal does come with a salad though which is nice.

I love the Plaza Inn for the atmosphere, Walt's wife Lillian decorated it and its just a very nice place. So much a cut above the normal counter service place you would assoicate with a theme park.

Have a great trip!

We were planning to do a counter service meal on our day of arrival. I think we will go with the chicken at the plaza. I saw an updated version of the French Market menu and they no longer have the French Dip or the Fried chicken so thats no longer an option for us...

We eat here every time we visit Disneyland..... We love the fried chicken and don't mind the mashed potatoes nor the vegetables..
I personally love the Cobb salad and then with the AP discount I purchase a dessert to share.. Plus you can refill your sodas here for no extra fee. Then you can also request a to go cup and take a refill with you....

i'm glad i found this thread! my DH LOVES fried chicken. he's soooo particular about what he eats. we're definitely going to have to try it out plaza inn! :)

Thats a good thing to know about the refills!! Thanks!!! Do you know if its the only counter service that offers free refills? Also, I have read somewhere that a few restaurants offer Cherry coke and Coke zero, anyone knows which ones?

Thanks !!!!:goodvibes

Rancho Zocala offers free refills too and I think Pizza Port does as well. Since I only drink Diet Coke I can't help you with the other question......

Count me as another fan of Plaza Inn's fried chicken - and I usually do NOT eat fried chicken! But it's moist and not greasy at all - really good. I have to say that I'm also disappointed in the "instant" mashed potatoes, though.

Last time I checked, Rancho del Zocalo had Cherry Coke and Coke Zero - from what I remember it was the only restaurant that carried those two products. But I haven't checked Redd Rockett's or Plaza Inn in several months, so they could have been added to the fountains there in the meantime. At the time. Zocalo definitely had the largest fountain beverage selection that I'd seen at any of the park restaurants!
