Plaza de Familia - Coco Tribute: DCA

I think DLR hit it out of the park (no pun intended) with Plaza de Familia. Great family fun, food and beverages. The theming and decor is just amazing. When I was hanging out in there today, constant entertainment. Mariachis, dancers, & characters. Most of my photos are from early this AM before things had really kicked off.

I heard that there's an area to post pictures of loved ones that have passed. Is that true? I'm anglo so I don't typically celebrate Dia de los Muertos, but to be honest, my upcoming visit to DLR and DCA is the high point of a very rough year (haven't we all?!) plus having lost a family member and I was thinking about bringing a small picture of my father to post, as a small significance to me.

I'm not sure about pictures but I believe you can write a remembrance or memory of a loved one on a card. I think the fourth photo down shows these cards.

I didn’t see where you can post a picture. You can write a tribute to a loved one/s and hang it on the tree of life. So sweet and touching. See the hanging chains below. Pardon the sideways…I’m still at park and haven’t edited anything yet.

As others have said, not a place to put pictures, but a place to hang a written remembrance. We did it two years ago and it was more powerful than I thought it would be.

This has always been one of my absolute favorite seasonal areas -- so beautiful, and a chance to learn about the traditions and heritage involved. But somehow I never noticed the remembrances! I'll look out for it this time; there are several people I'd like to take a moment for.

It gets better every year. It was a Tuesday and so many families were hanging out having a great time!
