Does anyone know where I can find the Sony Playstation 2? I have looked in all of our local stores and on every website I can think of and everyone is sold out already. I don't understand why...it's not exactly a new item.

Good luck! They are "out of stock" everywhere. I ended up getting one on ebay last night (late). Then got the Eye Toy at Walmart.com. Today the prices on ebay are way up there. I think everyone waited until today to see if they could find one, they couldn't, so now there bidding. You will notice alot of the people selling and bidding on them are new to ebay.

DH does alot of buying and I've done some and have never had a problem (knock on wood). It makes me nervous and until I receive it, I will silently worry. :scared:

I went to circut city this morning to purchase one and there were none (even though they were advertised as a sale special). I asked the sales associate about them and she said that they had not gotten any in. She said that Sony had not been making them at a rapid rate, so everyone was in short supply. She said that Sony told them that they would be shipping them some soon. Hopefully stores will be getting them soon. I can not believe that Sony is so dumb that they did not make a ton of these before the holiday shopping season!! I am now looking at the xbox because these seem to be readily available to the general public!! I hope that you have some luck in finding them!

I ordered one on Monday from CircuitCity.com. The website states they only have the bundle available for $199, so I called the 800# and was able to order the regular Playstation 2 for $149.99. At first she said they were out of stock, but once I asked her to check the stores in my area she came back and said that they were available in the warehouse. Shipping is free, so you might be able to order one from any store and have it shipped to you. It's worth a try!

gamestop.com
i have bought games from them in the past and have had good luck.

I heard a rumor that Sony was coming out with a 3rd Playstation (although you'd think they'd have it out before Christmas), but maybe that's why the stores don't have many:confused3 .

The PS2 has been redesigned as a smaller unit and was in many of the advertisements for the day after Thanksgiving.

I was shopping for one in mid-October and couldn't find them. I called stores, checked online and then learned about the new design, that they were only coming to stores at the beginning of Nov. No one was advertising, but by chance I got one at Walmart shortly after they got their shipment, when no one else was aware they had arrived. I have had it on layaway since mid-Oct.

I started looking for the PS2's in October and didnt get one until around the first week of November. I wasnt taking any chances and grabbed one from TRU. They had got a shipment on a Saturday morning, so i picked one up. That night I ran back to pick up something for a birthday gift and there were none left. I can't believe how difficult they are to come by. When i was in TRU on Black Friday they were going like crazy.

I was able to order two on two different days last week from KBToys.com. One day the website would say "out of stock" and the next day they would be "in stock". This happened both times that I ordered so you just have to keep checking. I hope this helps!!!

Saw them at Costco yesterday. They still had a few in stock. They were bundled with two games (Jak II and a racing one) and a memory card. I think they were $219. Probably have them online at costco.com as well.

I saw a sign at Target that said Sony had a shipping issue, and there are none available. Not a good thing for Sony to have problems with right before Christmas. If I see any, I'll let you know.

The guy I spoke to at Best Buy told me that the "shipping problem" is a bunch of garbage.
He says the company is only releasing small amounts of the systems to boost demand.
Then people looking for holiday gifts will start asking the stores if they have PS2.
The stores will think people really, really want PS2, so their store..and every other store in area will order 2 or 3 times the normal order to fill the "demand".
Then in January when the holidays are over the stores will have way too many PS2 since they ordered more than normal.

I don't know if that's true.

I stopped by Sam's Club, too. The guy in that dept. told me a similar story of how Sony is not sending merchandise to try to boost demand.

My son wants one for the holidays. I told him that if we don't find one by Christmas he won't get one until after the holidays.

There is no way I'd pay those ridiculous prices on eBay for a PS2. I even saw some ads for people selling old used systems for the cost of a brand new one.

If anybody lives near the Canadian Border, there seems to be plenty of PS2 systems here. I bought one at Walmart last week for about $179 Canadian. I've been back a few times since and they still have stock... it might be worth the road trip if it's not too far.

Good Luck!

I ended up giving up and buying a used one at Gamestop today... It was $129.99.. I have looked and looked and looked and noone around here has them in stock and my son is asking for one.. Its the only thing he wants.. I was holding out for a new one at $149 but since I cant find one I decided to go ahead and do the used one.. It has a 90 day warranty so he can at least take it back if any problems.. I figured with my luck that if I waited much longer that the used ones would be hard to find too.. :jumping4: :moped:
