Hello folks! I just had my phone interview today! I think I have good answers and I was very excited but I also spoke very quickly because of nerves and said "you know?" and "umm" a lot more than I wanted to, despite a week of practice. My interview was only 16 minutes. Does anyone think that is good or bad? Did I blow my chances? And what should I do while I wait for a response?

Son's interview was only about 10 minutes for Fall, and he got in. Think the length of the interview depends on the person doing it. Good Luck :)

My DD had her phone interview this week and asked at the end if she got the job. The interviewer told her she got to the next phase of the process. A recording of the interview will be sent up and someone will listen to make a determination.

We are assuming that depending on the volume of interviews, if done in order received, it may take a few weeks for the folks at the next level to get to the interview recordings. If you get a quick NLIC it probably means something did not go well with the phone interview. Maybe not fitting the image, interviewee only wanted a certain position and those were filled, had a bad interview, etc. If someone gets a quick acceptance it may be that the phone interviewer really liked him or her and bumped them to the top, you did well and want a hard to fill position, or the next level just grabbed the recording out of order due to a system error.

Of course everything in the second paragraph is just speculation based on what the interviewer told DD about the recordings. At this point we figure as long as she didn’t get an NLIC a couple days after the phone interview she is still in the running.

My DD's phone interview was September 14th. I can see why the process takes a couple weeks. I didn't realize the interview recording was reviewed by a next-phase process. She's received no word at all since her interview. She's on pins and needles (as is mom) !! I wish everyone who applied the best of luck getting in!!

Why not just have the "next phase" reviewers be the ones interviewing? :confused3

My guess would be the second level interviewers are actually members of the HR department, more experienced hiring personnel, and/or managers. With the shear volume of applications they probably use the first level phone interview to weed out some of the applicants or route the applicants to positions he or she requested and the interviewer felt there was a compatibility.

Also, almost every job has multiple interviews with each level weeding out some of the applicants. They probably use the recordings to speed this process up.
