I have been playing with a program I have and would like your thoughts on this

Are you looking for just editing opinions, or overall? It is definitely overexposed. It hurts my eyes a little.

I don't care for the boat dead center of the frame either, if you croped it a little closer you would cut off a lot of the over exposed bottom and get the boat down on the 1/3 line.

The fact that you're playing with a program, i assume you want editing tips. Here's a little something i did with Picasa (just using the "Tuning" tab). Brought a little more color to the pic....made it look not as overexposed.....but still kept the redness of the boat, along with the green in the pier. Cropping the bottom would definitely help too.

Thank you... One of the things I still need to learn though is when I work on a picture what prints is not always what the monitor shows. Does anyone else have this issue. I have st my colors on my screen and still there is a difference.

you may need to calibrate your monitor as well with calibration software

as far as the original, it depends on what you were going for. you didn't mention what software you used but if you used some of the "edgy" software it makes it look kind of like that although the one i have usually edge darkens the whole thing and this looks more lightened. i might like it better if it was edge lightened the whole way around. it looks like the bottom is but not the top. that would make it look more like a vignette around the photo instead of overexposed on the bottom. did you do edge lightening then cropped it? that could cut off the top edge lightening and make it look like that

i actually like the white cast better than the yellow but that's just mho. i like the reflections and just the basic two colors. you could crop it a little lower but if you do more edge lightening it might make it to low. i might crop off some on the left if you were going to crop at all to make it a little off center and might give the illusion of drifting more than with it centered. all in all i like it though
