Playground hopping?

I know that it's a no-no to pool hop, but is it ok to playground hop to the other resorts? We're staying at ASMo, but I know that Coronado Springs, for example, has a great playground. We might not even have time for this, but with 2 little ones with us, I like to know what options we have.

I'm sure the correct answer to this is the same as pool hopping - it's for resort guests only. But I've never seen any crowds in the play areas at the resorts I've stayed at and doubt if any "normal" people - or even WDW people will care. Just the anal retentive types!!

I can't see why anyone would stop you. But all the resorts have nice play areas. I can't imagine any one of them is much better than any other.

I don't know the answer, but this is a very good question. All the resorts don't have playgrounds so it might be a different policy.

You know every playground I've seen on property has been virtually deserted. Everybody is at the pool! My kid toyed with the idea of playing on the playground at POFQ - but we never really had the time. We were going to the pool. LOL I would say - YES - let your kids play. Then if someone says something (which I doubt) you can always leave. Or - if a lot of kids suddenly materialize then you can melt away.

I just don't see this as the same thing as the pools. After all, you are allowed to eat at the foodcourts, use the restrooms, shop til you drop, etc. even if you're not staying there. Have fun!

You know what, After 4 stays at AKL I have never seen the playground there! I know they have one but with, the pools, arcade, and animals I have never seen it.

I can't imagine why anyone would possibly have a problem with you using the playground! If you are going to make a trip to a resort just for a playground, make it the AKL. You can check-out the resort and the kids will love all of the animals! Maybe even try dinner at Boma, Jiko or the Mara.

I agree. CSR has the best playground. The others are just simple play area. CSR is a little bit more elaborate. My kids enjoyed playing at CSR the best.

Oh my goodness. Sorry, but I find it a little strange that you travel all the way to WDW for a magical vacation, and then.....tour the resorts' playgrounds???!!

I don't know about everyone else's kids, but sometimes my DS just needs a little down time from the theme parks. We also don't have any really nice playgrounds around here.

I have one little one, and am glad to know that there are playgrounds in WDW. I never noticed and have been going since 1976. Having just brought my daughter back from visiting Disneyland, I can tell you that some down time is a good thing. That down time might include leisurely swinging on a swing, like she does at our local playground almost daily.

I live at the beach in a resort town, and people pay all sorts of money to stay oceanfront and then swim in the hotel/motel pool. Why? Because to some kids, it is another experience. And for others, it may be a more familiar experience than the ocean. For the parents, it's another thing to keep the kids occupied!

I agree. We will be checking out the playgrounds at some other resorts (GF doesn't have one) for the same reasons. My kids will be overwhelmed by the parks, so a little play time will do wonders to get them more into a normal routine. I know when we go to AK, they will probably never leave The Boneyard! They'll play there all day.

So which resorts besides CSR and Fort Wilderness have great playgrounds?

My kids like the WL playground. It's nothing special but it fronts a little beach that the kids can play sand in.

Whatever floats their boat. If folks resort hop so they can see the grounds, and if some folks resort hop to check out and dine in the restaurant, then why not check out the playground too! It's their trip, their money, their time and if that makes them happy... do what what makes you happy.

My daughter loved playing in the water jets at Pop Century!! On our way back to our room, we often walked over and just let her play for a few minutes!! She loved to see if the water would "pop up" and get her!

Our kids loved the playground at CSR. Its one of the reasons we want to go back to CSR.

When I was younger, my family liked to check out different resorts, usually attached to a meal there, lol. My mom, aunt and dad used to check out the shops, and when my little cousin go bored, we'd walk past the pools to see what they looked like and I'd watch her at the playground. Not all resorts had them then, but waiting for PS times, etc. is a little restless for a child and she enjoyed it. I doubt anyone would care. Just bring your own beverages or buy them in the food court. I'd hate to see it turn ugly with a refillable mug issue. And if anyone says anything, just tell them the people on the DIS said it's ok! (joking)
And the CSR playground is hot!! I woner if its busier than other playgrounds?

Do you mean "hot" temperature-wise or "hot" as in Paris Hilton says, "That's hot." ?

To the OP ~ I would go ahead and go to CS's playground. If a CM says it's only for guests of that resort then you can just leave. No big deal.
