Playdate at Starbucks

Major headache.

I just got back from meeting my sister at Starbucks and shortly after we sat down a group of about nine moms came in with their young (and some school age) children. They rearranged the furniture around one table while the kids ran wild. Having three kids myself, I can normally turn off these things - but they were loud and monopolized about 75% of the place. I never saw so many people get up and leave. :lmao:

But it got me thinking - when the kids were small I'd take them to the Children's Library, Park, McDonalds. Never a coffeehouse though. I guess I'm getting old and cranky now.

well those are definitely moms who are planning a MOM's playdate and just have to bring the kids along... not a kids playdate.

that's ridiculous. I honestly can't understand people like this. On what planet is it acceptable to let your kids run around a restaurant or cafe or store or basically any business establishment that isn't made for kids?

"Playdate at Starbucks" sounds like my kind of thing - except it would be MOMMY'S playdate, no kids allowed!

I have gone to Starbucks with my friend and all our kids, but it was to grab and go, not to stick around.

Go through the drive-thru if you need your espresso fix and take the playdate to McDonald's.

NOT an appropriate place to take kids to "play", sorry mom's. Get your coffee to go and go to the park. :sad2:

I have three kids and would never think of doing that. I would also not have wanted to be in that Starbucks with a large group of kids.

the same thing happens at Panera Bread. These moms come in in a big group with all the kids and the moms sit down and the kids run all over the place.

A Friend of mine was on her lunch break with a co worker and they were eating and one of the kids ran up and took the pickle off of her plate :scared1:

Mom didn't even notice. none of them were actually watching the kids.

This used to happen at a place I worked. So annoying. The worst was the ones who would go to Club Tan next door and give their kids $ to get food from our restaurant... what are we, babysitters? And I'm not talking kids in double digits either who can handle themselves for 20 minutes, young kids.

That's just bizarre. I'm not going to claim to be a perfect mother whose children are never a bother to others, but I will promise that mine were evacuated from the premises as quickly as possible when they were being disruptive. Why not buy the coffee and take it elsewhere?

That would be an nightmare, Kids running wild with people carrying hot drinks :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I was at a local coffee house the other day and was surprised to see so many small kids there. I'm usually there on a different day of the week. They were well behaved and didn't bother anyone. If I went and there were kids running around, I definitely would leave.
