Playa Del Carmen Vacation help!

My boyfriend and I are staying in August at the AI Grand Riviera Princess near Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and I feel SO clueless!! We booked the platinum suite. Does anyone have any tips about the resort or flying into Mexico, or about any excursions/day trips that are a must see!! This is so new to me because it is not the mouse house (I could plan a trip there in my sleep) and it is our first trip together!! TIA!!!

Day trip to Tulum ruins and the surrounding area. There is a also a good zip line company in Puerto Morelas (sp?). Love PDC

go to tripadvisor and search the hotel name. You can read 100's of reviews of the hotel and read a lot about the area. We were there in April (different resort) and had a blast.

Thanks everyone!! I am scouring the tripadvisor site now. I always used them for hotel reviews but I never knew they had reviews on everything!

I agree with a PP-you MUST do the day trip to Tulum!! Fabulous experience.

What are you looking for? Relaxation, fun..etc..

Things I would do..
Tulum. Go there early, it gets really hot. Take the bus to tullum. See the ruins, then take a cab to El Parisso beach club for the rest of the day.

Actually, I always rent a car whether I'm at an AI or off a cruiseship for the day. I think I paid 50MP ($40 US) to rent from PDC for the day. There is too much to see to get stuck on a bus IMHO. We drove to Tulum in the am and then made several stops on the way back, I can't remember the names of the places but you'll see them on TA when you look at things to do....
