Now that the 2016 PSD has started rolling out, is anyone staying Value but upgrading to the Disney Dining Plan over the QS Plan? I would like to know the cost difference. I know it is a bit different than when Free Dining is offered. I have to wait to Monday to book and want to look at all options since I am hearing that you have to book a Preferred Moderste room over Standard. That's a $60 a day difference and add that to the $40 for the PSD dining and I probably would do better staying Value.

I just booked PSD today. We are staying at the Pop in a Standard room and did not have to change that. I upgraded the dining plan to the regular one with 1 ts, 1qs. I didn't compare the qs dining but I did add up all the meals we have planned, tickets, and room and it was about $170 cheaper to go with the PSD package. I wasn't sure if it would be a good deal or not since I have heard mixed views on the dining plan but in this case it seems to be a good deal. I know that's not your exact question but I hope that helps.

They don't give you a breakdown per person. The SPD at a value resort will include QS dining for everybody.

ADULT: To upgrade it will cost $19.05 per adult per night ($61.82 vs. $42.77)
CHILD: To upgrade it will cost $3.44 per child per night ($20.78 vs. $17.54)

That's what I was hoping. With just the 2 of us, it will be more economical staying Value and upgrading to the Basic Dining since the Moderate seems to have to book the Perferred rooms. When we go with the whole crew, we need the room for 5 so Moderate works better.

We booked the 2016 FD bounceback for next September and decided to stick with the QS and save the extra $280,00 it would cost to upgrade to the DDP and just pay OOP for a couple TS meals and we'll still be ahead, because they take one of your CS credit away when you upgrade. So, if you figure that credit is worth $15.00 and the $19.00 to upgrade, you table service costs you $34.00 for each meal. Not a good deal for us!

are you meaning you loose the QS to a TS Credit? My husband wants to do 5 TS Including Ohana and Boma. We are estimating this will be almost $300 in TS for the 5 days. So I think we will do better with the plan upgrade.

I am glad to hear that. I was not happy when I was seeing that preferred has to be booked.

Please explain what you mean here. They don't take away any credits when you upgrade to the regular dining plan. You're still getting the same number of meals, only 1/2 are QS and 1/2 are TS.

Original discounted booking (free dining) was December 4 night stay in Standard Room for 2 adults, one infant @ POP w/ 3 day tix plus PH option, and upgraded DDP was $1,461.86.

She was able to apply PS&D to current reservation with no changes in room type or options. Total cost was $1,649.94... almost $200 more. Needless to say, I kept original discount of Free Dining.

TICKETS: No Discount (no surprise there);
ROOM: $1.00 Off Rack Rate per night (no that isn't a joke!);
DINING: Adult #1 = 55% OFF Dining Plan; Person 2-5 = 45% OFF Dining Plan (regardless of adult or child).
