The more I think about it, the more I think we have enough character buffets this trip and wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with the Play and Dine lunch. DS is more into Mickey and Pooh than the little Einsteins and JoJo so I'm thinking we should switch. Of course this might have to be what we get since our trip is just a few weeks away.

Can anyone share opinions on the Play and Dine? Should we switch (if possible, of course) to Sci-Fi? I'm open for either lunch or dinner times and thought DH might like that one.

Here's a link to a DIS board thread about it with lots of pix. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1250761

This and Chef Mickeys have been our favorite character meals. In addition to the Little Einsteins and JoJo characters, there are several peppy hosts that lead the kids in songs and dances. It was just priceless watching my DS dance with Leo to the Hot Dog Song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

we travelled with our DD4 and friends DD4 and DD2, we were very happy with the buffet and absolutely loved the dancing character and Cm interaction with all 3 girls in March. They all had a blast! Characters visiting tables was RUSHED but dancing with the Cms and characters was relaxed and wonderful (not rushed at all) I got amazing pix and video !! I feel there is abit more space to dance here than crystal palace with Pooh, but Einsteins are for the youngest market where Pooh is soooooooooooooooooooooo classic he can be for any age........we loved it all. HTH:wizard:

PS

Sci Fi (also March ...) movie trailers were frightening and loud for all 3 girls and food was not great. We;d go back for sure but will go when kids are a bit older.

Oh thank you for that link! I just read through it and we are keeping the ADR- DS was quite the dancer at Biergarten at 18 months back in December (he was pretty much the only one bopping around in front of the band the entire show) so I have a feeling he will enjoy this too.

Thanks very much!

We did it for bfast and it was honestly one of the best meals I have ever done with the kids. The food was fine, I really don't recall what it was but there was plenty to choose from and everything was good. But the dancing was terrific. It was not very crowded- table space was good and there was so much interaction for the kids. What i also loved was the dancers would do a song or two, then tell all the kids they had to go back and eat- so mom was never the bad guy. The character interaction was okay (i'm not sure we got to see all 4 characters how bad am I?) but it didn't matter becasue the kids danced with them and enjoiyed themselves. Even my ds5 who thought he was going to be too cool to enjoy himself asked to go back this upcoming trip

H&V was a fsavorite of ours , we did breakfast and food was good, service was great and the character interaction was superb! They involved the kids with parades and just made it great. Also we all enjoyed Sci Fi. Personally I didn't like my meal but others did . Service was awesome and the atmosphere is great. The milkshakes are delish so are the onion rings !!So I say you will enjoy either!!

We were there October of 06 and will be there October of 07. We made the reservations mainly for my 2 year old niece who LOVES Little Einsteins but my oldest son (age 10), daughter (age 8) and my Dad (age 69) loved it just as much as my niece did. The food was good, our server was fantastic - that was the best service we had all week. I was reluctant after reading all the negative reviews for dinner but was extremely pleased last year and it was at the top of our must do list this year.

We went in Nov of '06 with DS, then 3. We all had a great time and the CM's really got the kids involved with dancing, conga lines, etc. JoJo, Goliath, Leo and June came around more than once, and they played music from all of the Playhouse Disney shows.

The food was good, and our waitress ended up taking my son's breakfast off the bill since he ate so little! He was too busy dancing!

Have fun!

I just made an ADR for breakfast on Sept 2nd. We had our choice of times for either lunch or breakfast! Thought I had our ADRs all set until I spoke with my 5yo nephew on Tuesday he is so excited, had a ton of questions and wants to dance so PHD it is!
