Platinum members only get a free Palo dinner for 1 person?

We are both platinum and when we have gone to Palo, and both of us were free. Its my understanding that if one person (maybe even someone under 18) is platinum in your stateroom, then all adults, even those who are not platinum yet, in that stateroom can receive the benefit. And, they do not all need to go to Palo for the same dinner (or brunch).

Have you done this? I've always read it was the same meal for the comped meal. As in, I can't go to brunch, and my husband go to dinner and both get comped. As it's one meal for Platinum cruiser and all adult guests in the same room, I think you have to go to the same meal.

Unless something has changed recently, I have never heard of the restrictions that you are stating. We have not actually split the benefit before, where one gets it the first visit and the other gets the benefit on the second visit, but I think I'm correct that this is allowed. Each person only gets the benefit ONCE during the cruise, no matter how many times you eat a Palo.

We have been on 20 Disney cruises and go to Palo almost every time. Since becoming platinum and since they have been offering this benefit, we have both been to Palo without the charge. When we have been to Palo with friends, they did not get the benefit because they were in a different stateroom and not Platinum.

It is best to visit Guest Services to verify the current rules for this benefit. Usually, if the rules change, they will allow you the benefit as it was when the cruise or when the Palo dinner was book.

Well, it's sorta like the "one gift per room" regardless of how many CC members are in the room. You get one dinner for all adult guests in that room, regardless if 1, 2, or all of them are Platinum.
Well then that's what we were hoping for. We were hoping both of us will be comped for our dinner there together :)

So if a room has one adult and one child and the child is platinum but the adult isn't, will the adult be able to get the free Palo meal?

Is the Palo benefit just for dinner or can it be used for Brunch?
Technically the website states "dinner". But has, in the past, been applied to whichever meal you eat there first on any given cruise.

The actual quote from the membership benefits page is:

Offer includes dining service fee ($30) for one dinner. Available to Platinum Castaway member and Guests staying in member's stateroom. Must be 18 years of age or older. Subject to availability

It's really sort of ambiguous whether the member actually has to also participate in order to get the comped meal or not. Doesn't really specify that the member must be eligible for the meal in order for the guests to partake.

Thanks @PrincessShmoo. We're not Platinum yet, but we mostly sail in two rooms with only one adult in each room so I wondered if the adult had to be the Platinum member in the room to get the Palo meal. Maybe someone else will have this experience and let us all know!

If no one knows, and assuming one adult is Platinum, you could always BOOK both adults into one cabin and the kids into another - you can sleep in whichever cabins you want.

That would work, as long as you have another adult to put on the kid's room. Each reservation must have an adult on it. I think that's where the issue is coming in. Maybe the child (who may be Platinum) is booked with Grandma (who isn't). That poster may be trying to figure out how to include Grandma (or whoever) in the comped meal, even though she's not Platinum.

Ah, gotcha. I thought people had reported being able to book both kids in the cabin if it connected or was directly across the hall from the parents' cabin. Maybe I'm mixing that up with RCCL...

Yeah, I think that's someone else. I know you can do that on Carnival. On DCL, there must be one adult (at least) registered in each room.

Yes - we would have a kiddo who is platinum with Grandma who is not, so we're just curious if Grandma would get the Platinum Palo dinner. Guess we'll find out for sure once we hit Platinum!
