Platinum $100 resort credit questions

I called Loews just to make sure about the credit for platinum
members and was told that you have to let them know where
you want the credit, either in food and drink, golf or spa at the
time of check in. The lady that took my reservation told me
that I had to call Loews to get the credit, which is why I called
them to check on it. He (Loews) also said that the welcome gift
is up to the GM of the hotel if any would be available. I did notice
that on the Loews site there no longer any choices of welcome gifts.

We stay at RPR next week. I will find out about this then.

they have it on the loews you first site that the $100 food/beverage credit is valid at pbh or rph during your stay as a platinum member.

they do list the exception restuarants which have already been mentioned here.

nothing wrong in using up the credits at the bar.....:thumbsup2

Macraven, where on th eloews site does it list the restaurants that do not participate? I know Tchoup Chop and Bice do not but what about Mama Della's?

If you go into special offers and check out the summertime specials which give a $75 credit, it lists Trattoria del Porto, Splendido Pizzeria or Sal’s Market Deli as the places you can use your credit at Portofino. I would imagine that the You First credit works the same.

... And we almost always stay with a Passholder rate, since it's usually less than the Florida Resident rate, so there's no way that we could get the Platinum status without those counting towards the perks.

I know we don't get the "goodies" in the room with the Passholder rate, but that's okay - I just wish we had known about the $100 credit. We don't eat at the resort when we stay (prefer to eat in the parks or at Citywalk), but we would have gotten some drinks or food out by the pool if it was for free!

At least we know for next time.

You always have to weigh in the price difference between passholder's rate and the supersaver or AAA which entitle you to the $100 credit.

I did not see a LF check in when we were there last week, and the check in lines were really long at times.

I'm guessing (from what I've read), that they did away w/ the Member check in when they switched from Loews First to You First. :scratchin

Yeah I am out of the loop on that... I just learned about HRH not being a Loews First hotel anymore...

I wonder if there is a connection between that, and the recent poor reviews of the HRH

Not sure...but I know HRH was bought

(macraven knows more than I do ;) )

you only get the $100 food/beverage credit if you are a platinum status on the loews you first program. in order to keep the platinum level, you need over 10 different stays per year. the passholder stays are not a qualifying stay based on loews' differnition.
if you are interested in enrolling in it, you can do so on their website.

hrh talked about pulling out of the loews program about close to a year ago.
their new program was not in effect when i was there last week.

i think i told you between drink 4 and 5 last sunday about hrh having a different program this year. :rolleyes1
boy, we had fun last sunday didn't we......

about the poor reviews lately for hrh, seems like a lot of people posting about that now.
i doubt it has anything to do with the change of programs at that hotel.

in reply to some of the posters statements on check in at hrh...
i have not known of a separate check in for LF there in the years i have stayed there.
i did use the LF check in at rph some years ago but that has been eliminated this year.

So, we're staying at the RPR Nov25th-29th and we're platinum members. I just have to call Loews and request the credit? This would be a very nice, unexpected bonus!!!!

Macraven, where on th eloews site does it list the restaurants that do not participate? I know Tchoup Chop and Bice do not but what about Mama Della's?

tchoup and bice do not participate as they are owned by outsiders.
if you are platinum and staying at rph or pbh, you are entitled to the $100 food/beverage credit at all the other on site food places at the hotels.

mama's is included.

if you go to the loews you first site today, there is a autumn special listed.
if you are a loews you first member, you can receive a specific amount of credit towards spa, food, booze, etc based on the number of nights you will be staying at the hotel. pbh and rph only that is.

you do not have to be a platinum member to get this.
you can not combine the $100 credit with the credit based on number of nights you are a registered guest there.

sounds like a sweet deal.

go to the loews site for more details.
it is listed on their front page.

sorry i didn't reply sooner to you.
i was on vacation and no access to a computer until i returned home.

So, I called the Loews site and they connected me to a Uni agent. I told her I was booked super saver and she said that I could not get the credit for my stays if I wanted the $100 credit which seems crazy because Loews is sponsoring the offer????!!!!

First of all, that sounds crazy. Under the YouFirst program, you get both the credit for the stays and the platinum credit. Perhaps she was confused with the one that Mac mentioned above - the one for all YouFirst members. You can't combine that with the platinum credit.

Secondly, are you booked through Universal Vacations with a package or did you book room and tickets separately through Loews (who transfer you to Universal reservations?)

Universal Vacations and Universal reservations are two different entities and can be very confusing sometimes. On the UniversalOrlando site, you can get to both depending on which link you click.

Universal Vacations is a third party broker and booking through them disqualifies you for the Loews perks as it is not a qualifying rate - even if you booked the supersaver rate through them.

the loews featured promo special is on their front page. (autumn promo)

this is the f & b I was referring to.
this is for members of you first without regards to their membership level.

promos can not be combined.
if you are loews platinum, you do not receive additional F & B credits

I hope this clears up any confusion.
Thanks Goofy! for having my back on this one. ;)

Thank-you!

Call again and make sure they speak to their supervisor. We are booked in a RPR suite because of our platinum level and we will be getting the $100 bonus and this is supersaver. At first, the reservationist said supersaver and AAA did not qualify. I told her to ask her supervisor and, of course, it does qualify.

They drive me nuts down there.

Ok I need to book one night at Portifino Bay for next month and I need 3 nights at RPR in August 2009.

I have a Premier AP, AAA and dont care about the view. I would like my stay to could for You First, I am gold and want to stay that way.

Which method of booking should I use?? I am sooooooooo confused!!

I am willing to do it by phone... just not sure which number to call. Thanks!

You can't use your annual pass. You can use AAA and still get credit. You can use any Loews number to call.
