Plastic surgery after losing?

I was just curious if anyone felt they might need surgery afterwards. Kinda a personal question I guess, but after two large babies both with c-sections AND rollercoaster weight since then my tummy looks awful! It will never be flat for sure. (I could discuss the chest area, too but that is an even sadder story! :p Beware nursing moms!)
The thought scares me, but wow would it make a difference! Anyone looked into this?

lenshanem I understand what you mean. Although I am not really considering plastic surgery- I am wondering how much of my "baby belly" will go away or if I am stuck with a skooshy tummy. I have lost most of the weight I wanted to loose (about 20 lbs) but I still have a stomach and I am wondering if it might go away if I keep doing sit ups and loose a couple more pounds?
Has anyone lost theirs without surgery?

I have recently started looking into having a tummy tuck once I am done losing (I still have a long ways to go). I have been researching doctors in my area, pricing, etc. Once I got all my information together DH & I sat down and talked about it and he agreed with my decision to have it when I'm ready. I can't wait!! I also would like to have my breasts done but the tummy tuck is more important to me so if it comes down to one or the other that's the one I'll chose.

Hopefully my weight-loss journey will end around the same time I am done nursing DS. I will be getting at least a breast-lift and probably a reduction. I am 5' 8", and even when I weighed 130 pounds I was a 34 DDD (not an easy bra size to find!). There is no hope for my stomach! All these strech marks guarantee I will never wear a bikini, no matter how small I get!!

hlane, just out of curiosity, did you read up on the risks? I've heard tummy tucks can be risky. Is this true?

On a side note, I lost all and then some weight right after I quit nursing my second and even though I was a size two/four I still had a gross tummy. I was working out and nothing would make it go away. Hubby kept telling me it would if I kept at the sit ups. MEN!

This is beside the point since I gained back half of it anyway. (I'm working on that, though! :hyper: )

As for the chest? Wow, imagine going into Victoria Secret and them telling you they don't make a bra size small enough for you. I wear the smallest size, but it is still not enough LIFT...............

There are risks to any surgical procedure & it's a personal choice to decide if those risks are worth taking for an elective procedure such as a tummy tuck. At this time I feel I will take the risks once I am far enough along in my weight loss journey but who knows I may even change my mind by the time I get to that point. If I do decide to go forward with the surgery I would be sure to do the research & shop around for the best doctor I can find. ::yes::
Edited to add a website with the a list of most common risks.

Also I hope the above doesn't come accross rude or snippy because as I read it, it sounds like it may but that is totally not how I meant it:D

I checked into this years ago, before I had my daughter!

Since DH is in the Army, I was referred to a plastic surgeon at Walter Reed in DC.

I really want my breasts reduced and reshaped. Nursing hasn't been kind to my girls. But then again, I was wearing a size 38DD in the 8th grade, so that isn't good either.

At any rate. He said that with any surgery, you have to be sure that you are at a weight you can maintain and that you are done having children.

Both things can make all the wonderful results of surgery go all to pieces.

I have thought about it in my dreams, but that is as far as it has gone. I have been a faithful exerciser for a long time, but I am losing everywhere but in my stomach, so I would love a tuck....my stomach is gross (I wear a size larger for my stomach area, but my waist is a size smaller) and my girls after nursing and being heavy and losing weight are like utters or maybe a slinky is a better analogy, and I would love to have them lifted. However with all my wishes, I doubt if I will do it, the risks are too high and I love my life and family too much to risk it. There have been too many people that I have read about recently that went in for simple procedures and ended up dying and I am not willing to take the risk, but boy it sure is nice to dream.
