Are these new trends in WDW food?

Last week I had bacon at both Cape May and Norway. Both times I noticed that it had no bacon taste whatsoever. It looked like bacon, but was entirely devoid of taste.

My grandchildren all love chicken strips as a kids' meal. Last week this item seemed to have disappeared from all menus. The kids had to settle for hot dogs, not their favorite.

Our grand daughter had chicken strips (real chicken, not the yucky breaded kind) at Wave when we were there with her for dinner. The chicken was absolutely delicious. Actually, the entire kids meal there was fabulous, she had the chicken, salad, fruit, dessert and I some other stuff, lol. Way more than she could eat, but she loved it.

I do not like the bacon at all, it tastes too smokey for me. DH said the bacon at the buffets is usually very limp and plastic like but the regular TS places or CS places it is very good and crispy....I will take his word for it as I am a sausage link kinda girl

:lmao::lmao: I think your bacon was most likely a casuality of a "buffet". I noticed some times when the bacon has been on the server for a while it turns rubbery and limp. it's good when it first comes out.

Now if they would only do some thing about the over done pasta I had in November that tasted like glue...:rolleyes1

The "chicken breast nuggets" at the quick service places I had them at were really not that bad. They were like half a chicken strip...same breading as a chicken strip, and same chicken. Just smaller, nugget sized, pieces. I can't say that they are like that everywhere, because I didn't eat everywhere on my last trip, LOL!!

This was my experience as well. Same thing only a lot smaller than the strips. But you have to get the "chicken breast nuggets" , the regular Chicken nuggets are that processed lump nugget...blech

is the chicken actually labeled "chicken breast nuggets" on the menus? How do you know where to order those vs. regular nuggets? This would be a huge help to know since my kids won't touch nuggets only the real chicken ones. I don't blame them-they're gross!

I honestly don't remember. I remember asking at the Counter what they were/looked like. The breast nuggets look like the strips used to ,just smaller ,with a lot of breading. The processed nuggets are round and look like what you would buy in the frozen food section of the grocery store. I know Cosmic rays at MK had the breast nuggets as does Columbia Harbor House.

My son is a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Chicken Fingers/Nuggets/Strips. He says that the best at WDW is at the Rainforest Cafe (either location is the same). It is real chicken. He gets the chicken fingers from the appetizer menu --- It's a large portion, maybe enough for 2 children. You can order any sides a la carte. There are also nuggets on the children's menu. But I think that they might be processed because they are (or used to be) shaped as dinosaurs or something. They are OK, but not as good as what's on the appetizer menu.

I don't think that Rainforest Cafe is on the dining plan --- if that matters to you.

My son used to love Disney chicken when they were the strips. He was disappointed with the nuggets.
As for the bacon, we honestly found it inedible. It wasn't crispy like bacon is supposed to be. We found this to be true everywhere we ate breakfast from the CS at the resort, to the buffet at the CP, and the family style breakfast at Norway.:sad1:

I found most of the food at Cape May's breakfast buffet inedible.

I believe the chicken nuggets on the kids menu's in quick service are mostly the pressed and formed yucky kind. The adults size on the menu says "chicken Breast Nuggets" but not an option for the kids on the dinning plan. At least this is what we found in October with 4 adults & 3 kids on the dinning plan.

At CS, the strips have been replaced by nuggets. Most of the time the nuggets are exactly the same chicken as the strips; they've just gone with smaller pieces, probaby so they can sell smaller portions (you can choose a 6 or 8 piece order where they're on the regular menu). Some reports are that nuggets on children's menus are possibly chopped processed meat rather than chicken breast meat. (That's CS children's menus - on some TS kids menus you might still find strips or breast nuggets)

Personally I dislike crisp bacon so I might have to look for some bacon.
