I haven't compared much as we will NOT be affording one of these anytime soon, but I thought the ones through Dell were not very expensive and backed by a good company with excellent customer service.
Charlie, we shopped locally but eventually went online for a better deal. I would recommend the guys we used, www.bestbuyplasma.com out of Brooklyn (confusing, but NOT affiliated with the Best Buy chain).
We had great customer service, they delivered the TV via ground service, we had it within a week, and the guys unpacked the TV right in our living room (we had to actually move it once they popped open the box... liability!). We got our 37" Sony WEGA HDTV plasma for about $1500 less than the chain electronics stores here had it (Circuit City, Best Buy) and we LOOOOVE it. I've never watched so many nature shows in my life, but boy does that HD look good! I think the site has monthly financing too, if you're looking for it.
I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure we used the same company Snowy76 used. DH did tons of research and we also benefit from his brother, who is a technology snob and HAS to have the newest thing going when it comes out. (Waiting for him to upgrade on his 50 (?) inch plasma so he can hand-me-down it to us He is also a researcher so we usually start w/ his recommendations for sites, etc. and go from there. My MIL bought from Dell, but her plasma was much smaller.
