Planted Matt's Veggie Garden!

My sister and Matt plant a veggie garden in our yard each year. She loves it and so does Matt.

So today was the day! Cow manure....fertilizer....and plants....tons of them!

They planted....

tomatoes (a ton of varieties...some from seed....others from plants)

kirby cucumbers

eggplant (white and traditional)

jalapeno peppers

cauliflower

broccoli

My sister also plants her own garden.....so we'll be in tomatoes up to our ears come August!

I love tomatoes! Actually most veggies, expect those nasty LB.

I think it's great that Matt is involved in gardening. It's a wonderful learning experience for him! Now tell me, he likes to plant the veggies, but does he eat them without prodding and encouragement?

Yep, he eats them. Every single one he plants with possibly the exception of cucumbers (though he'll eat them in sushi so I think that qualifies....)

We also planted basil in my flower beds and the dreaded LIMA BEANS!!!!

Should be interesting to watch him this year. He's always liked to plant...but took very little interest after he had planted. Last year he was involved in the garden more with watering. This year....I hope even more.

He loves to pick and eat...pick and eat....pick and eat.....

Picking and eating raw peas is one happy memory I have of my sons and my garden. They also ate brocolli trees ever since childhood. They were finger food, much to DH's chagrin.

What a special time for Matt and his aunt and what a wonderful tradition.

Any veggies we eat rarely make it into the house into a pot...especially the snow peas.

Sounds like a great garden, great memories and great veggies! What a great tradition! How old is your son?

(ummm... sorry for the overbundance of the word "great" but it really seems to fit)
