Plant Identification help!

Ok, while I may be a good gardener, and I even went through my plant encyclopedia, I have no idea what this is! My mom, who I get most of my gardeing bent from, has this thing in her garden, it's over 6 feet tall and still going! :earseek: It gets sporadic blooms on the stalk, and is winter hardy. Any help would be much appreciated!

I know it's not liatris, but it reminds me of liatris.

I have no idea what your mystery plant is, but my DH had a look at the picture and said he see's those plants along the side of the highways quite often.

Any other Buds have an idea what it might be?
 

Hi Mark it's called a Verbascum.

The yellow one is the common Verbascum you see along roadsides and in fields. They also come in other colors. I have a peach with purple centers.

What an interesting plant! I have never seen anything like this, it's getting near 8 ft tall now to the top of the bloom stalk.
