Plans for WL Cabins found

I wonder what they're planning on with the new restaurant. Too big to be a bar along the lines of Trader Sams... Artist's Point is already the upscale dining on site, and WCC is the fun dining.

IMHO, they're messing with perfection. If it's money they need, and they are not filling those standard hotel rooms they need to reanalyze their pricing and marketing strategies for the resort.

By the way - I had heard that the nighttime bug population over at the poly bungalows is unreal. . Can you imagine what it will be like at the cabins?

(Fun fact: every morning a cast member sweeps thousands of spider webs off of the WL docks because they come out at night to feast on the bugs, don't lean on the ropes!)

I know this is mostly speculation at this point, but I am pretty bummed. We have a VWL contract in ROFR right now pretty much solely for the rustic, woodland feel of the resort. If they are cutting down trees and razing the beach, I can't imagine keeping the lovely vibe of the resort as it is now. They'll probably tell us this is what owners were asking for, too, like eliminating freezer space from studios.

Unless they cut the tree down, I can't see how anyone would expect to see fireworks, even if the cabins are along the shoreline. also looks like they are taking parking away from the resort, but adding rooms...Yep, the cabins towards MK may get their own lot to the detriment of the rest of us.

Regarding my previous post, the intent was to be facetious. With this post, I would like to suggest three ideas:

(1) Realistically, I would expect at least a 1,500,000 point addition. If the cabins are marketed comparably to the bungalows, but at a slightly lower point price because of location and view, then an average of 750 points a week x 52 weeks x 26 cabins yields 1,014,000 points. If at least 100 rooms are converted to studios at a weekly average of 120 points, the yield would be 624,000 points. Combined, this would allow for 1,638,000 points to be sold. Personally, I would suspect it to be closer to the 2,000,000 point mark to allow for at least 2 years of sales.

2) Polynesian sales seem to be slower and lower than expected. With 4,000,000 points available, I do not see this being fast tracked if PVB sales do not pick up.

3) Today, I am going on record as predicting seaside cottages at BCV. If space can be found, then cottages a la bungalows/cabins will be added.

I believe it's in their plans to clear the trees from the WL side of the island on the bay lake side of the monorail to improve the sight line into the sky toward the MK. Last summer there were Disney people walking the island while we were there. I didn't think anything of it other than it being odd.

We should close in about a month on our VWL points. Bought for same reasons you mention. Thought they were only going to convert existing rooms to DVC and leave the rest of the resort intact. Good grief! Fingers crossed there won,t be as much OPEN SPACE as the plans look to show.

For those interested, I posted some photos taken yesterday at Wilderness Lodge that show some of the areas that will be renovated as part of the Wilderness Rehab project. Click here to see the thread.

Should I be looking to change resorts
