Plans for Boy 5th Birthday

We are going to Disney in December to celebrate my son's 5th birthday. Unfortunately, everything I wanted to plan to make his actual birthday special is not working out. I wanted to take him on the Pirate and Pal Voyage, but that is the one day of the week Disney does not run the voyage. I also wanted to do Be Our Guest or Royal Table reservations for dinner, but wasn't able to get them even though I tried 180 days in advance.

So far, we have reservations at Chef Mickey for a late breakfast. I am looking for something special to celebrate in the evening. I reserved both Crystal Palace and Askershus for that evening for backups. Even though he says he doesn't like princesses, I think he might actually like the special attention form pretty princesses. The other thought I have is to book something in Hollywood Studios and see the Osborne lights.

What ideas do you have to make his birthday very special? Thanks!

What about T-Rex or RFC. If he says no princesses, I would not book a princess one. If you want to be at HS. what about Sci-Fi? Fun eating in a car while watching movies. Maybe if you are at HS, let him do the build-a -light saber if he likes Star Wars. Maybe do a no-No day. Let him pick what park...what rides...what snacks etc. You can order a cake for where ever you end up doing dinner that day.

I think what you have planned sounds like a pretty special day You could always book the Pirates and Pals Cruise for the next day or a different day of the trip and surprise him with the invitation on his birthday?
My son turns 5 on December 13 this year we are thinking of going for his 6th birthday

How likely is he to know it is his ACTUAL birthday, especially if it is on vacation? I can't keep track of what day it is in Disney half the time. I would just shoot for the day before or after and tell him that is his birthday. He probably won't even realize.

We ate at T-Rex café for our boys bday's. You can order a lava cake that they'll bring out and sing happy birthday. Then we went over to Build-a-Dino for them to make their own Dinos, that was a big hit for my boys I would also say Pirates League would be a lot of fun to do as well! make sure to have him wear his birthday pin

I wanted to add that if you decide on the T-Rex Café to call them directly to make a reservation and not go through Disney. Disney only has a certain number of reservations they can make at that restaurant. I tried making a ressie there at 180 days out and there was nothing available! So Disney told me to call them directly and gave me the phone number. They had lots of available times for us to choose from for our reservation.

Have you tried a FP+ for lunch at BOG? I would try that to at least get the chance to eat in the castle. If not, T-Rex is a lot of fun for the boys in the crowd.

How about Pirates League in MK? It's not a cruise, but it was always a fun event for my kids. For DD birthday (October), we had an in room celebration from the Disney Flourist. While we were out, they decorated the room with lots of fun things, including a Big Mickey and Minnie. DD still talks about it all the time. Nothing like getting a great surprise at the end of the day.

Jedi training at HS is fun as well, but would need to be there early in the day to get a time.
