Planning Weddings for those Not-yet Engaged!

I read the title of this thread and thought I would add my 2 cents. My dd is engaged and they have set a date for next fall. We have the church and reception hall arranged...she originally had set her date for Dec but the reception venues are not available so they changed their date to early fall.....so we think everything is set until one of her bridesmaids has a total fit about the new date and says that was the date she was planning on for her wedding.....but she isnt engaged:confused3. Her bf hasnt asked her yet. She mentioned to my dd last yr that she wanted to get married in Oct but dd didnt even remember that since the girl had just started dating the bf and thought it was more a passing "wish, hope, dream". Anyhow, this girl has thrown a major tantrum about this and has decided to go ahead with her "possible" wedding on the same day as dd's. What do you all think of someone planning a wedding, setting a date and acting this way while not being officially engaged??

That is awful!!! I would make my plans regardless of what this girl thought. It's one thing to dream about your wedding, but to set aside a day without even being engaged and get mad when other's plan something on that day :scared:

Yeah, when I was briefly contemplating the Escape package (it absolutely cannot happen for me....our families are just WAY too big!) I thoroughly researched it and (shhh) even called DFTW to confirm! :rotfl: When something gets in my head, it won't go away until I finally find the answer!

And yay! We're the same age! I know what you mean, I always feel so young when I talk about my wedding! Honestly, I can't imagine getting married before I graduate college so I'll be 21/22 ish but even then...everyone's always like "OMG that's so young!"

Now, on to the DRESSES!

My absolute FAVE!:

And I'm really into this one too...it's actually the cheapest of the three:

Those are gorgeous!!!

I would like to join you all as well. Since before I had a boyfriend I have dreamed of a Disney wedding. I never knew such a thing was possible until my first CP at Disney. When my parents came to pick me up at the end of my internship, they road around the monorail waiting for me to get off work. They told me that when they passed the wedding pavilion they immediately said they knew that is where I'll be getting married!

My boyfriend and I have known eachother for about a year and a half and have been dating for close to a year. I think it is headed in that direction, and I must admit that I was bit by the wedding bug this summer. Several girls I am going to college with got married, and of course, it makes a girl dream!

My last two CPs with Disney were in entertainment, and I participated in quite a few weddings. I know that I want Mickey and Minnie, and Belle and her Prince at my wedding. I would like to get married in the Wedding Pavilion, or maybe France. I've met several of the wedding planners, and seen many different ways of doing things. I don't think poor Aaron knows of my dream of getting married at Disney, and I haven't broached the subject. I don't want to put any undue pressure on him. I must admit that I am a little nervous that he may never pop the question. I had to break my own rule and ask him out because he is kind of shy.

Welcome!!! I also did 2 CP's...actually that is how I met my first husband! Anyway, I feel the same as you. I don't mention a dftw to dbf for fear of running him off, lol!!

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is the thread for me!!! :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2 :worship:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

LOL I've lurked and sometimes posted on the wedding boards forever! My boyfriend knows :dance3: and agrees, as long as we have an open bar  ...I told him he can pay for it...:rolleyes1 :cool2:

We have been going out for almost 4 years ( in December), he's definitely the one. When we started going out he was coming out of a bad relationship, and he was my first serious one...so we took things slow initially. We finished up college, started working, and are trying to survive teaching music...aaaahhh! Anyways, I had some issues during college and gained a lot of weight, and I told him that he is not allowed to propose until I lose 50 pounds...and he's holding me to it! LOL! So, I'll be engaged...eventually...but I have some work to do!

I'm thinking either Sea Breeze Point or the Wedding Pavilion, and then the Atlantic Dance Hall, but IDEALLY the American Adventure Rotunda for a reception. I have 50 family members with just grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins (eek!) and we are pretty close to all of them...there's nobody I can leave out. So, with his family and friends, it will be at least 100 people...

Anyways, this is an awesome thread! I feel like I might have a "home" on the disboards...and booo for the people who were rude!

I LOVE Sea Breeze Point. My mom and I walked it at night during our last trip and it's so gorgeous!!

So I am one step closer to my dream dftw!

#1 Dbf was talking to his brother and told him he was going to marry me :lovestruc His brother said that his parents really liked me! Dbf said he knew when he was going to ask me so they were coming up with ideas of HOW to do it!

#2 Last night he told me he wants to honeymoon at Disney:worship:

Angelhalo - I love your cake! What flavor was it? It looks delicious. Your flower girls are so cute and I love your get-away car. I am a sucker for a gorgeous vintage car. From what I can see your dress looks beautiful,I really love the pick-up skirt. Do you have a better picture?

Thanks! The vintage car is my FIL's so it was free which worked perfectly with our budget! LOL!

Each layer of the cake was a different flavor. The top was vanilla with a raspberry and white chocolate filling, the second layer was white choclote cake witha bailey's and amaretto filling and the third layer was cheescake flavored cake with a fresh strawberries and cream filling.

Lemme see, I know I have tons of pictures of the dress, I just don't want to post my face because I have meanie stalkers.

Ok here we go! My ribbon on the waist was white though and no big flower detail on the bow. Just the ribbon tied in a simple not on the side of my waist.

Oh that's so pretty!

I just had to pop in here....
I am so glad you started your thread again over here.
I think I feel very badly for some others fiances & husbands. ;)

Funny thing, I am not engaged (rather married for years).
So, I guess I cannot post pics of my reception in the Napa Room over there to help someone with questions about that venue?

Seriously - enjoy the wedding planning, engaged or not!
I started cross stitching a Mickey & Minnie wedding design before we were engaged. :thumbsup2

And I'm really into this one too...it's actually the cheapest of the three:
THEDRESS2.jpg

The last two are Maggie Sotteros

The dress I love is similar to this one... but in white.. Yeah..I've been married before and will have 4 kids...but I'm doin white anyways :)
I like strapless...but dont have enough to hold it up while not being self consious walking down the aisle...LOL

Alot to catch up on since yesterday...but hidden meadow is beautifuL!!!!!! I wish I knew how to post pics... my sister had an outdoor wedding last August, and they worked hard on a place that didn't look so great a week before.. and it turned out beautiful

I think that quote is exactly WHY that thread was OT. The wedding board on the Dis is to discuss WDW weddings & HM's, it's not geared toward weddings in general. I looked at that thread & there was very little info related to WDW. I think you might have confused that with other general wedding boards. I think it's fun to dream about your future wedding & starting a thread to discuss those future plans is tons of fun :goodvibes , but those posts didn't really fit with what the WDW wedding board is intended for.

I don't think it would be appropriate for me to start a 6 Flags thread on the Dis Theme Park Attractions board or a thread about Applebees on the Dis Restaurants board-if I did, it would probably get moved to a more appropriate board. I'm not sure why that is any different :confused3 That thread should have been moved here a long time ago.

I AM planning a WDW wedding, so for me, info about non-WDW weddings is just not helpful for me. Just my 2 cents & good vibes to you all & I'm glad you girls found an appropriate place to post!:thumbsup2

We came over to stop the drama...that conversation is OVER now, thank you.

This was my engagement ring. I loved this ring the moment I saw it at the mall. I wonder if my ex would sell it to me for a right hand ring?

Hey how do I post a picture of the dress I want? Its from Davids Bridal?
That is beautiful!!!

I'm not sure how to post from DB because there pics aren't really pics...

Here is my DREAM engagement ring
ry%3D400

It's actually from JCPenny and less than $400...I am a cheap date, lol. I tried it on for fun while we were there last weekend (mom and me) and it was just GORGEOUS!

Here's mine from the day he gave it to me! He proposed at Epcot!

It looks tight but it's not. It actually spins around on my finger sometimes. I think it was tight from my hands being swollen from walking around the park all day! LOL

girls...I'm so sorry ya'll basically got ousted by the girls on the wedding board...I don't post there much(already had my wedding and it wasn't disney...but had a disneymoon), but I lurked and read ya'lls thread as well.
I felt it was completely on topic to the wedding board..but I guess you can't please everyone!! Just wanted to say...have fun pre-planning guys...no harm and it's TONS of fun to get ideas, even if you aren't engaged yet...my DH and I started looking at wedding stuff after we'd been dating a year and weren't engaged yet!! Anyway...I'm going back to lurking now!
Just wanted to say that I feel it is wrong what was done to ya'll!

We came over to stop the drama...that conversation is OVER now, thank you.

Than please stop publicly bashing the girls over in the Weddings Forum on this thread! It's....well....dramatic ;) This is a public forum, do you think the people you are publicly humiliating are not going to read this? There are several on this thread like that. I read one post on here where one of you girls actually referred to a Disbride's screen name when you insulted her. How would you feel if someone did that to you?

People on the Community Forum were not involved in that thread so you are spreading bad energy & a one-sided view to people who know nothing about it. Would you be comfortable with a thread on the Dis Wedding Boards advertising that people on this thread are mean? I've frequented the Dis Wedding Boards alot & I feel those girls have always been very welcoming, helpful, & supportive in answering in planning questions & I've watched them welcome new Dis brides with open arms:)

If you want to have a thread to discuss your maybe so/maybe not weddings do so, but personal attacks and complaints should be discussed over PM, not on a public forum. It's classless, mean, & I'm sure your future DF's would be ashamed of this behavior.:sad2:

Have fun with this thread, but please stop the slander. It's really not nice:sad1:

And your right, this conversation is over-as long as you girls stop spreading bad press and humiliating others for voicing an opinion. But please don't publicly bash people & not expect them to reply! Remember that everyone has the right to a voice, but no one has the right to slander. Take it to PM & enjoy your future planning on here:thumbsup2

Lol your right it is a public forum so EVERYONE can see how we were treated over there. We weren't bashing anyone, we were complaining how WE were treated. We left like everyone wanted so badly of us to do and now we are being followed and the harrassment continues. If you don't like what we are talking about, don't open the thread. It's that simple.

And there WERE disbrides bashing us on other threads...and I didn't publicly mention a name, but instead reported it to a mod.

Last night DBFs sister was asking me about rings & sizes. (He already knows that I prefer princess cut & white gold). hmmm...maybe when we are in San Fransico he will propose:love: ? But hopefully not at the stupid niners game...:headache:
But thats not until December.

Lol boys don't think like us, don't forget that. He may think proposing at the niners game is VERY romantic:rotfl:

Dbf keeps listing things he wants to buy in the next year (golf clubs, golf membership, motorcycle...) so I don't see buying a ring anywhere in there, but maybe he's throwing me off the scent. But when he talks about us getting married, it sounds sooner rather than later :rotfl: Boys:rolleyes:

He probably would!!

Take that dawrobin :rotfl: )

That is a humiliating personal attack. & as long as there are mean things like that written on a public board, we have the right to respond to it publicly, so please try to stay on your topic and let bygones be bygones.... That is all I'm saying.

I'm back to planning my WDW wedding with the nice & helpful girls over at the Dis wedding boards!:thumbsup2

Please don't make me quote all the thing that were said about us on that thread (including by dawrobin). We are trying to stay on topic, but you felt the need to come over here. If you would like to stay and chat, that's wonderful:goodvibes But please stay on topic.

 But I'm confused about what your topic is: Pre-planning a wedding or Complaining about the Dis Wedding Boards? :confused3 You have several posts in this thread about BOTH topics-?

I'm not trying to start a fight with you, I was just generally offended to see you guys bashing the wedding board instead of starting fresh. If whatever they said made you feel bad, don't lower yourselves by doing the same. Whether you realize it or not, this new thread from the first post was hostile by even mentioning your unfortunate incidents. It created a tone & invites hostility.

I did not really involve myself in that unfortunate incident (except to suggest that you move it to the Community Boards which I see you did!). But I am a member of the Dis Wedding board & the girls have been very helpful & friendly to me & it's not fair to spread negative advertising about it to others who might be seeking advice with their WDW related wedding in the future. It is a very helpful and kind board for those who relate to the topic. I'm just asking you guys to lay off the negative energy.

and I'd love to come back and chat-thanks!:goodvibes
