Okay, its our first trip to Disney World and I've noticed a few people on here have mentioned a planning video. Our trip is August 20-27 and we haven't received anything from Disney yet. What do they send and when does it usually come?

If it makes a difference we booked it in May.

When i ordered the free video it took about 3 to 4 weeks to come in. It came with a dvd and cd for the computer too. It showed all the hotels and attraction.I thought it was very helpful inpart withy my decsions. I learned more on this bored though.

You have to go to www.disney.com and request the planning DVD! Mine came in about 2-3 weeks.

The planning video is really to get you to book a trip not so much tips on taking the trip. (Difference between resorts types, park tickets, a few things in each park, the dining program, etc.)

If you read the boards a little bit, you'll get more info.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know you had to order the video. I guess I don't need it now anyway as everything is already booked and paid for.

Will Disney send us anything at all? I thought for sure we would get some sort of information or at least tickets/vouchers. We haven't gotten anything. Is it done like airline tickets where you just show up with an id and they give you everything you need? :listen:

i have that planning dvd ur talking about!

i notice something odd about it! they dont show any info on the swan and dolphina resorts! :confused3 i am curious why they left that out!

O'kay I can admit it... I keep mine in our DVD player 24/7 because I like to watch it when I need a WDW fix. Anyone else? :rotfl:
When I ordered mine it took exactly as much time as the website tells you it will (3 weeks). Have fun on your trip!

The Swan and Dolphin Hotel resorts are owned by a different company. I do not know who, but definately not Disney.

You should go ahead and request one. It's free and it's a lot of fun to watch. In addition to the resort and ticket info, it takes you on a tour of all the parks. In fact, there's not that much info about the resorts. Just really brief snippets. It's mainly about the parks. Watching it got me even more excited about our trip.

The Swan and Dolphin are owned and operated by Starwood Resorts. So they are on Disney property, but are not technically Disney resorts.

That depends...are you booked room only, ticket add-on or a pacakge including air and everything? Also are you doing Magical Express? If you are on a full package, it will usually arrive 14-21 days in advance. (A wallet with tickets and any extra coupons you are entitled to)

Enjoy
Sandy

We bought our airline tickets separately but got the resort, myw park-hopper tickets, and the free dining as a package deal. We are also doing magical express.

(A wallet? Does it have money in it? lol!)

Did you get a confirmation letter? That should be the first thing, and if you didn't get that, you need to call and ask.
2nd. - I think you get some tags from ME for your luggage, don't know when that should come.
3rd. - You will get your room key and tickets and dining (combined into one card) at check-in. Have a great time! :wave2:

I love these information dvd's - I have several from years past... However, this new one just cracks me up. DH refuses to watch the rest of it cause the 4 people they have guiding you through the parks are insane! I understand where they're going with the whole thing - trying to reach out to moms, dads, teenagers and kids, but last I checked not all teenagers are surfer guys and not all dads are lazy. :rotfl: It's hard to focus on the information they're telling you when you can't take the guides seriously. It just seems kinda forced to me... Anyone else?

Just my 2 cents.

Does anyone have some of the older videos laying around that they'd want to sell? I found that this year's DVD is not as exciting for little ones to watch. I'd love to buy any of the older, but recent (past 5-10 years) videos to get my kids excited. Thanks!

Oh yeah, it is so corny and overacted that it's funny. I know they wanted their actors to act excited, but it's way over the top. I still love watching it though. I'll admit that I just watched ours again a few days ago. We took our first WDW trip in May, but I want to go back so bad that I'm planning another trip next spring and getting obsessed with it already. My wife is the one who just rolls here eyes.
