PLANNING VACATION FOR 10 PEOPLE- OFF SITE

I like this description of the best places to stay. It does pretty good if you want to stay on the west side of Rt. 192. There are many restaurants and stores, and the entire area is all vacation villas. You can get inside Disney in minutes. Look at Home Away or VRBO and you should be able to find what you need. I am renting a five bedroom this summer that includes two queens, six singles, and a pull-out couch. It is a two story, so that different groups can have their own privacy (some upstairs, some down). Many of the villas are broken into "suites" with their own bathroom. The point is, out of the hundreds of different villa configurations, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

Hi all..I am planning a two week vacation for 10 People in June of 2016 and we are staying off site. I really do not know where I should book. We want to be close to Disney World with a beautiful house or villa to fit all of us. We would like to have lots of room and definetely have pools and eaterys. We went last year to Orlando and stayed at the Vistana Resort. We would of loved to stay there again this time buut there is nothing large enough to accomodate us all. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated :)
The vistana resort on lake Buenavista dr just out Disney is nice and it's affordable we stayed there many times

I booked a 5-bedroom executive home at the Terra Verde Resort through OrlandoVacations dot com for an extended family trip.. The total price was $1054 plus a $50 insurance fee. That's the cheapest price I have found for that size house, plus it comes with a pool and spa and there is no mention of additional fees for spa heating or additional cleaning fees. I had actually booked a 4-bedroom but was upgraded to the 5 BR. Terra Verde Resort is southwest of WDW and looks like it might be a 15 minute drive. I believe the resort is also gated with 24 hr security.

Resorts such as Emerald Island (3 miles from Disney, villas up to 7 bedrooms), Windsor Hills (2 miles from Disney, villas up to 6 bedrooms) and Champions Gate (6 miles and the newest rental homes, these go up to 8 bedrooms) would easily cater for your party size.

We've stayed in the first two but not the latter as it's fairly new. We tend to rent direct from owners. Have found these sites useful for that if that helps:

Windsor Hills Private Rentals.com
Emerald Island Private Rentals.com
Champions Gate Private Rentals.com

Dave
Thanks so much

I'll second Emerald Island. We rented a townhouse years ago and have one for our trip at the end of the year. It was closer to Disney than I expected and so much cheaper than staying on site.

If you are going for two weeks, do you really want people to have to sleep on a sleeper sofa for 14 nights? What about two people in a twin or queen bed. If someone is used to two people in a queen bed at home, it might be alright, but going from a couple sleeping in a king at home to 14 nights in a queen could be rough.

If you were to stay at Vistana or another Orlando timeshare, could you possibly just book two 2BR units? We are planning a similar trip for ten people a few years from now and will likely go with two or even three units at an Orlando timeshare.

Yes that is definitely an option we are looking at . We love the Vistana Resort

We rent a 5 bedroom home with a pool/spa and have shared it with extended family for the last 10 years. In my opinion, the key to traveling and staying with multiple families is to make sure every adult couple has their own bedroom and bathroom. All kids should get to sleep in a bed, not a pull out couch in a shared space. My kids LOVE this kind of vacation where they have their own TV in the bedroom, their own space to retreat to, and a pool and game room at their disposal. I love having my own room and bathroom, having a large kitchen, washer and dryer... Just to give you an idea of what is out there, here is the house we have stayed in the last several years: http://www.vrbo.com/46990
I highly recommend renting a villa. There are so many to choose from on www.vrbo.com and www.homeaway.com

I rented a 4 bedroom, 4 bath condo at WBC from vacationupgrades.com for my 70th birthday. You can't beat the location adjacent to Caribbean Beach Resort on Disney property. In the past I rented two - 2 bedroom condos. There was not a room big enough for all of us to gather. Also the kids ran back & forth between the two condos slamming the doors. The four bedroom is set up with split bedrooms - a master with king bed and a double double in the second room on each wing. The middle is the kitchen, dining, living room and door to a very large balcony.
5 TVs so folks could get away or hang out in the living room.
Check out their web site for great pictures of Wyndham Bonnet Creek.

Places like Emerald Island, Windsor Hills and Champions Gate are great, but they are housing developments. There is not onsite dining or bar/lounges.

You can look condo resorts that give the conveniences of a hotel with the amenities of a condo/villa. They have onsite restaurants and bars, which I find very convenient. They also have housekeeping.

Here are some of the options out there. Villas at Grand Cypress, Parc Soleil Suites, World Quest Resort, Marriott Lakeshore Reserve, Marriott Cypress Harbour, Marriott Harbour Lake, Marriott Grande Vista, Marriott Sabal Palms, Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, Hilton Grand Vacations Suites at Sea World and Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orlando - Orange Lake Resort.

Another vote for WBC 4 bdrm presidential suite - think luxurious 2500+ sqft condo. IT IS AMAZING!!!! I rented from someone on EBAY. Start looking on EBAY and there are a few people who rent the 4 bdrm. When they pop up send them a message for your dates and see if they can get it.

We stayed with a group of 9 - 7 adults and 2 kids. We needed the space and the 4 bdrm hit the spot. The bdrms are spaced out. Once everyone went to their bdrm it felt like we all had our own private space and TV! Each bdrm had their own bathroom. Yep 4 full bathrooms. It was great!! BEDS BEDS BEDS were our #1 priority. No one wanted to share a bed. LOL!!! 6 REAL BEDS!!! ENOUGH SAID!!!

Also consider 2 - two bdrms at WBC.

An important benefit to renting multiple units is that it gives the various groups their own space and privacy. It's not necessary for everyone to be together ALL the time; you get some time away from the whole herd.

This! We just went with my MIL and my BIL and his family. There were 9 total and each family got its own 2br at Bonnet Creek. MIL stayed with BIL and his family. We were next door to each other, but it was so nice to have our own space.

Now when we go to the beach, we will rent a house and don't mind cozying up to each other. Then again, it's not a stressful vacation with us all getting up at the crack of dawn to park stomp. So my vote for WDW is to rent villas/condos and be near each other, but for everyone gets their own space.

Hi
Hope you had a great trip. Did the townhouse at Emerald Island meet your expectations as thinking of going in may. May i ask who you booked the accomodation with?
Thanks

Yes, we thought it was great. It isn't brand new so the carpet was worn in some spots etc., but none of that mattered to us.

This is the condo. http://www.walkerworlddirect.com/USA_rental.htm They also have it listed on vrbo.com

Let me know if you have any other questions.
