Hi ladies!
I'm new to this board and am planning a 04/14/07 wedding. We got our budget back and had a bit of sticker shock. We cut out a lot of things, but I was just looking for suggestions on what to do without. We are using Disney photo and video, but how much cheaper is an off-site company?

Thanks for any and all help! :)

We're also using outside photography for about the same price. The thing that sold us was the amount of pictures and that reprints were much cheaper than using Disney photography.

We used Randy Chapman for Photography. It was a much better deal as I got more hours and I own all of the photos vs paying Disney a 1,000.00 for a high res cd. Unless they started to include those in the package now.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that if you wait a certain amount of time (I think a year), you can get the high res cd from Disney for cheaper than the $1,000 dollars.

I have heard after three years the high res CD is available for either $300.00 or $100.00 ant remember.....

Im with JonetteA.... go with Randy! You pay a small charge (no more than $700) and get atleast 400 photos sent to your home and you own the copyright to all of them

Heck if you take the Cd to walmart its like 20something cents a copy... and thats just for the make-do's. Taking them to a print store is still far far cheaper than paying 70 dollars for an 8x10 and thats no exaggeration!

Maggimus:

You were an intimate, so how did you have Randy? And how did that affect your base price for the package? Did you get comped somewhere else? I NEED DETAILS!

Curiosity is setting in......... :surfweb:

For intimates you just hire Randy on the side ($600 some-odd dollars for 3 hours of photos, 400+prints in an album, and the copywrite to the cd) and you still pay the regular charge for Disney Photography- the package price stays the same. Instead of getting the photography at the wedding- they switch it out and give you a Honeymoon photo shoot at MK. Its a direct switch out. So the package price stays the same, you pay Randy out of pocket (not through disney) and instead of disney giving you 20 prints from the wedding- you get a photography session at MK during your Honeymoon...

ours was the nearly $3000 package (photography =honeymoon photo shoot)
plus Randys photography
plus makeup and hair
plus dress steaming

hmmmmmm.............

we already have an MK photo shoot scheduled for the day after the wedding. I wonder if they would just put our pakcage price towards that and then us pay whatever is left over. (I wonder how much an MK honeymoon shoot is......?)

I e-mailed Randy to see if he is available for our day, long shot i know, because we are so close, but hey, worth a shot.

My DF said it is worth the extra money, because you get the copyright and all the photos.....i agree

how did you tell Disney you weren't using them? I already sent in my planning kit saying we were using DPS, but I haven't gotten a darn budget yet, so I say all is fair game until then.......! :rotfl2:

FYI: If you do the Honeymoon Photo Shoot swap out, for $50 more you can have your pics taken at a different park other than MK. Since we're doing the MK shoot, I think we're going to swap out for Epcot shots, since it's DF favorite park.

TinkBride: The MK Photo Shoot is either $800 or $850 (I hear the price is going up for 2007; aren't they all??). As far as I know, the only direct swap out they will do is for the Honeymoon shot; I don't think they just apply the price to any other photography you're doing. Of course, it doesn't hurt to ask...

Tink-
Just call your WC and tell her when you know for sure that you are using Randy (they are very familiar with him)... and ask them what your options are. No big deal- they dont care... they get paid regaurdless... and most of us DO use outside photographers- so they are used to it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Where can I find more info or contact information for Randy Chapman? And we have already received the budget and told Disney we were using their photography people, but I believe it can still be changed, right?

I found info on Randy Chapman...Those who used him were happy with the pictures?

Also, where did anyone get dress steaming done at and how much was it?
